The mistake is ever agreeing with any leftist premise.
No, I don't want you teaching about the "history of racism", because what little of it isn't completely made up by Bolsheviks was completely justified.
This poster is kind of retarded.
They never say "we are teaching critical race theory". And they will stop at step 1 where they have the initial agreement, then do whatever they want. Even if they didn't stop at step one they would stop you two sentences in describing the contents of the books and call you racist.
Also you don't accept the initial premise.
Don't go along with the idea that america has a "history of racism". Force them to use precise language and ask about which specific incidents of "racism" they are talking about, and specifically how those were resolved (mostly by white men agreeing to make changes). And you attack the "history of slavery" by asking whether they are starting with the slavery the indians practiced since beginning of humanity. For bonus points you can ask if they are teaching who owned the slave ships.
The main thing is you identify the enemy and you don't give them an inch. You keep attacking the premises until they are forced to give up the high ground and call you racist/sexist.
Or if they lose the argument really badly they claim they got a hoax twitter threat
Yes, precisely. If you'll recall, leftist teachers were worried about virtual learning because parents might see what they were actually teaching their kids. Plan A is make sure the parents never find out you're indoctrinating their kids. Smear any parent who disagrees with it as racist is Plan B.
America's history of racism is no different than any other nation of any other race.
That is to say, there is not history of racism.
My understanding is that the only places that didn't have slavery at some point where tiny island nations of 100 people or less. Everyone other group of humans developed slavery.
The only difference is that in the west we actually felt bad about it and paid a large price to get rid of it...which apparently they're now using your own morality to endlessly beat you with.
why even teach about slavery and "racism" beyond a short lesson that it happened, it's over, and we're all better for it?
I feel like the correct answer to the above questions are:
"Yes, I don't my children to be taught about racism, sexism, feminism and slavery". "Yes, racism and sexism does not exist. Stop teaching it".
Then wait for the name calling.
If teachers were to stop teaching the above, you as a parent can still teach your kids those bits that weren't covered in school. I am pretty sure you'd do a better job.
always good to repost this
The response to statement #1 is show me your lesson plan. The response to statement #2 is to scream like a raped duck to everyone who will listen and demand the board remove the teacher or to be removed themselves.
