Encouraging immigration will attract all kinds of people, but it will tend to attract the more capable ones who can leave India for a better life in a first-world country. The resulting loss of talent could end up weakening India as well, possibly making it easier for China to gain the upper hand in a future conflict.
Entire middle eastern countries have been emptied of anyone with means to escape. You basically end up with the people least capable of taking care of themselves stuck in a place, meaning they will be on "foreign aid" for the foreseeable future.
The same thing happened to Cuba when the US said they would basically take in anyone wanting to leave. Though they were forbidden to take any wealth with them, all the brains and plenty of brawn just walked out the door, leaving the brainwashed to care for the elderly.
Yes, immigration helped cement Castro's rule by getting rid of "undesirables," whether they be politically so or just because they were scumbags. Castro actually expelled the criminals and it created a crime wave in Miami.
Assimilation failed as soon as we pretended multiculturalism is a thing. The leftists started screaming that ethnic enclaves helped assimilation, which is asinine. Americans today have no loyalty to each other over the government and it was by design.
