Look, my father is the kind of person who would have had no qualms doing vivisection in medical school, if it was offered, and the profs “convinced them* of the benefits “to society”, so… Eh. 😑
He probably largely said that to assuage his own guilty conscience for past wrongs. And to make me feel stupid. Which didn’t work, obviously, in this case…
Follow up: my father, who is a doctor, and a narcissist, justified this, said the headline is “exaggerated”, and then mocked me for reacting to it…

It appears to achieve the double of being needlessly cruel and fiscally wasteful.
