That's sort of apt, but the difference here is that this movie truly looks bad. Even ignoring the black-washing of the cast, the CGI looks like early 2000s bad, which is kind of embarrassing because even low-budget, indie Russian flicks have better CGI. It's just an objective fact the movie looks bad and low budget. Heck, even the game's monsters have higher quality rendering than the movie, which is just sad.
That's not to say the criticism of RE isn't completely valid but it hasn't registered for this guy yet.
Glad you recognized this, but this also highlights that you recognize the problem with this guy: he's blind. This isn't everyone else's fault, it's his for being blind. Just like with trannies; sure you can say that people shouldn't rag on them if they just want to cosplay as hideous women, or in the case of women, butch women pretending to be effeminate men. The reality is that no matter what they believe, they are delusional, and that isn't everyone else's fault.

The Redditors in that thread even hint at that outcome by pointing out that the guy is shilling for a crappy movie by a mega-corporation that doesn't care about him while they get people to consume their Left-wing propaganda disguised as a video game-to-movie adaptation.
The problem isn't that people like terrible things that other people are complaining about, the problem is that people liking terrible things that further open the door for more subversion that makes society and culture worse for everybody else. Anyone who isn't blinded knows that this opens the door for MORE subversion, not less.
Leon and Jill are black-washed in the movie, which will result in the typical shills and brainwashed sheeple to say, "Who cares? It's not in the game. Their race doesn't matter." They will give the hack directors leeway, and this will open the door for the Globalists to infect more of Resident Evil, where we will see those changes manifest in the game.
Before you say, "That won't happen! They wouldn't race-swap characters just because they were that way in the movie" I give you Exhibit A: Suicide Squad Kills The Justice League, where they race-swapped Deadshot in the game after he was race-swapped in the live-action movie and played by Will Smith.
I'm sure there are a lot more examples I could come up with, but I've already wasted enough time on this comment.
Anyway, the short of it is that the consoomer mentality is a detriment to us all. People can definitely like whatever they want, but when they like things that are purposely designed to subvert existing media and to push an agenda, their consoomer mentality then hurts us all by enabling the Globalists to further their agenda.
Hopefully that gives some perspective on why people might think your way of thinking may not be very effective.

I know downvotes don't usually matter, especially on Reddit where a lot of people are abominable idiots and aren't worth the time of day, but I do try to respond to some downvoted comments on here that at least attempt to make a good point only because here people usually are willing to exercise a measure of common sense and critical thinking, so more perspective is always a good thing, and I've even learned a thing or two myself that way.
Instead of getting attacked, he should get "we're pissed because we're disappointed because we also used to love those games." They're right to be sick of what's going on, they're just blame the wrong people. Instead he gets "Virgin consoomer LOSES HIS MIND."

I think explaining to him WHY people are mad and the larger picture of what's really going on might help him better understand that it's not about just attacking things he loves (even though that is what's happening, it's not happening in a vacuum).
There are plenty of blinded normies out there who just don't see it, or have been too busy consuming as a wage-slave to have their eyes opened. Essentially, he's yet to take the red pill.
But even if some random reddit user is a lost cause, threads like this remind me r/ShitRedditSays and I loathe that.
I suppose one of the more proactive measures we could take is attempting to communicate with those who are still blind. Personally, I find it somewhat taxing and a waste, because a lot of people hunker down to defend the brainwashing they've been inundated with non-stop from every single angle, but ultimately you are right, because pushing this guy away doesn't help anybody. Opening his eyes might at least help him to relinquish the ways of being a "consoomer".
The last 19 months have really done a good job helping me take the edge off of my mental state, probably a bit as a survival tactic with the world as it is now. Still, I actually think it's been a good thing for my own health. A constant cycle of hype and disappointment, rage and sadness, etc. can't be a good thing, and the way I see it what goes up must down at some point.
