What’s sad is I would have exactly zero issue with this if every other “race” wouldn’t freak out when the opposite occurs. However, racism begets racism, if you want to double down on stupidity then you aren’t welcome.
Denzel is a great actor but still every time there's a "White, Red Haired, Gaelic (Scot, Welsh or Irish)" character they get blackwashed and not a peep from the usual Reeeeeacism crowd..so yeah I agree with you

I agree. If you did some historical fiction based on Mansa Musa’s empire with white people in his court they would have a fit. I know in years past James Earl Jones and Denzel have done Shakespeare but back then it was sporadic. Now it’s a given race or gender swapping will happen.
Remember gods of Egypt. You didn’t need to see it but just the reaction of white people being in the movie. Or at least having somewhat light to olive complexion and they freaked out.
Probably the better decision in the end since it was shit despite the calibre of actors involved.

I'm sure part of the reasoning is so there won't be much bitching as Denzel is a great actor but still this shit is all too common now. They are erasing our culture, heritage and history and when reverse is done its "white washing" and "cultural appropriation"

Good point. If this was the 90s I’d be fine with this. But now it’s just so tiresome. Denzel is one of my favorites but my patience has worn thin with race/gender swaps.
