I’m currently watching Babylon 5 on HBO Max and I can’t believe there are no new HBO shows I care to watch. I can remember a time I used to watch everything on that channel. I’m sure they were always left, but they did seem to care about entertainment. Luckily they have a lot of older stuff. I pretty much don’t watch anything after 2014 with a few exceptions but you can definitely see how TDS affected the entertainment industry

I recently rewatched Sopranos and there was noticable overt subversion, such as the son reading from People's History of the United States to call Columbus racist, but the propaganda wasn't the focus.
It's always been there, we just didn't notice or agreed because we were born into it. Great example of how far the commie propaganda goes.... https://nypost.com/2017/03/12/commie-writer-turned-high-noon-into-subversive-hollywood-hit/
Goddamn, the whole article describes the motherfucker in sympathetic terms even as it admits he was literally a fucking commie in Hollywood.
Welcome to reality. There are no friendly's in entertainment and pop culture.
The way that article is written makes me wonder if McCarthy and HUAC got co-opted to take out rival factions within the party.
HUAC was McCarthy was struggle sessioned and defamed until the public thought ill of him.
Try it again, I hit it 2x and it went here once and to the article once.
He did.
Suck it, Rick Berman.
Even as recent as 2019, they came out with Chernobyl, which was fantastic.
Except for the historical abomination that was the female savior.
I loved Chernobyl but it feels unusual in that it didn't have a political spin on it directly. I've almost come to expect that. The bad thing is the story itself is very easy to spin. It can be sold as the amazing collective effort of communism was able to save the world just as much as maybe capitalism would never have been so stupid and careless to begin with.
I don't think it presented the Soviets in a good light myself, but I think it's pretty obvious I'm biased there.
I think it's hard to spin it as a win for communism, considering that the nightmare totalitarian society in which everyone was afraid to speak the truth caused the disaster in the first place. That doesn't mean it could only happen under a Soviet government, but it definitely happened due to their ideology and the society they created around it.
The theme is made clear in Legosov's monologues from the beginning and end of the series. We cannot live by lies.
Those quotes hit me so hard because they are so relevant to us now.
Our media and authorities have abandoned truth for "narratives" and nobody knows what the truth is anymore, so we pick our preferred narrative and cling to it to try and make sense of the world.
Meanwhile, the people who have taken over all our major institutions will cancel you for stating obvious facts, like "men are not women," while pushing obvious lies like "math is racist."
All these lies are going to mean disaster for us when they eventually collide with the truth.
Anti-nuclear scare propaganda
Chernobyl is weird. It goes pretty hard on the realities of the Soviet Union but at the same time carries the message of "that wasn't real communism." It still glorifies collectivism.
I'm a little surprised it was allowed to be made and aired.
Just going to leave this here
My spider sense warned me that show was woke garbage. Thanks for the link.
Yeah, but nudity!
If you are looking for a good series check out Banshee. Crime drama with possibly the best (and really brutal) fight choreography of any western series. The women are all smoking hot. Hard R rated with lots of tits and stabbings and violence, close to soft porn sometimes.
There is "diversity" but the story doesn't take it easy on any of the characters and none of it feels forced and no lectures. There is even a sympathetic portrayal of an actual white supremacist in the later seasons.
One of my top 3 series.
Cool. Will check it out.
Generation Kill is (and now when we went politically correct and beyond, will be) just the best war-on-screen that isn't just documentary. Nothing comes anywhere close, at least if you want it realistic and not a theatrical (which includes anything with music tracks, now I can't stand hearing any music in war films).
Apocalypse Now is different with how the music is either in the "LSD" scenes (the original title was even Psychodelic Soldier, back when it was a George Lucas project in the late 1960s) and when the music is actually coming from the film itself (loudspeakers on the morale helicopter, stereo on the boat).
And I like https://youtube.com/watch?v=yafLm-ByQWo anyway.
Nice, just started watching B5 myself. It seems a little cornier than Deep space nine so far in the first season but everyone says it ends up being one of the best shows ever so I’m gonna stick with it.
Babylon 5 fandom has ALWAYS acknowledged that the first season is very rough, but like a building's foundation it needs to be there.
I just started season 3. Loving it.
Does anyone else think The Wire is overtly Leftist? I used to love it, but I can't watch the show and not think commies and progressives think this show has all the right answers for everything...
If you look at it another way The Wire shows the effects of broken families and the failures of government
Well, let's give my thoughts a little shake.
S1 is a typical cops vs drug dealers story
S2 is a class struggle, unions good, corporations bad story, without mentioning unions shot themselves with unreasonable demands and uncompetitiveness
S3 is a ridiculous legalize drugs and utopia will happen subplot, and a resolution to S1
S4 is a plight of city schools story, teachers good, government didn't give them enough money, without mentioning every single school political problem on the map is literally some teachers union bs. Baltimore, where the show is based in, is supposed to receive frggin BILLIONS of dollars a year in feddy funding for everything, trust me, it's not the lack of funding that's killing you, it's the corruption.
S5 is a decline of journalism story, with a hack journo writing made up stories and an angel editor telling him off for it. I guess we can forgive the show for being made before the age of clickbait, but it's not because of singular bad apples journalism is dead, I struggle to find
fivethree journalists in the country worth reading.I like the show, I think it's well written. I don't agree with it's politics, and if it had been more heavy-handed I would have dropped it in a heartbeat.
Oh I totally agree. If it came out now it would be much worse.
Check out Bosch.
68 episodes. 8.5/10 average rating from 52,000 iMDb viewers.
But Zero Emmy wins. Just 1 Emmy nomination (for Opening Titles).
This tells you the show is not your typical SJW bullshit.
Bosch has been mostly great, but it was infected with Wokeness the last season, when they felt the need to throw in a pointless subplot where a group of incel police officers (yes, they actually call them incels) start a harassment campaign against the lesbian lieutenant. It almost felt like the "go home, gamer girl" episode of Law & Order SVU.
I'm kind of glad this is the last season, so it won't keep getting worse.
Thanks for alerting me. I just started watching Bosch for the first time. I really enjoyed Seasons 1-3. I am currently on Season 4 and SJW infection has already begun. Some filthy-rich Anti-Police Civil Rights Attorney is murdered and everyone is pointing at those "Angry Bad Cops" he has sued in the past. Then we have these Leftist Protesters screaming everywhere: "No Justice. No Peace!" (Yawn) It feels like I am watching CNN.
I just read that the same Producers and Actors are working on Bosch spin-off series for IMDbTV. We will see how that goes.
I just started watching Stranger Things Season 1 and... I don't see the hype. It's trying way too hard to be like ET with the bicycles, and every supporting actor behaves like the writer's using them as human props. The actors are good though...
