Masks are good at catching coughing and sneezing. However Covid transfers on water vapor, which masks do nothing for and trap in water vapor in front of your face. Infections increase in this environment, this is displayed easily in “maskne” where facial infections breakout from the contaminated environment.

Yes, that's something I've had more trouble than anything trying to get people to understand. Far and away the most prevalent belief about Covid I've come across is the "masks protect others not yourself."

The danger of stating it that way is how much it turns the tables on the social game of maskers. Just think of two potential mask cases:

  • "Masks work to protect myself from Covid" -- this makes it difficult to impose. It empowers those who choose not to wear a mask. Even if we were talking about the literal black death, the fact of the matter is it's kinda a Chad move to walk around amongst the black death not in fear. Even if the fear is warranted.
  • "Masks don't protect you, they are to protect others" -- This is how we get stuck with this bullshit social experiment. Someone else without a mask is now only a hazard to others. They are killing you with their carelessness. It's imperative that they are forced to comply. Extra bonus the mask fetishists get endless opportunities to virtue signal. Because again, they are saving others because they care and have empathy.

The fact that it was allowed for this game to be played with masks is one of the most dangerous tricks they got away with. Look how easily that mindset has translated to a vaccine. I mean a vaccine that protects others and not yourself would just be a whole different level of stupidity, but now that you have millions and millions of people bought into this mindset of protecting others here we are.

FYI, I'm still on the masks don't do shit beyond what they used to be for, like keeping a surgeon from spitting in an open would or keeping visible dust inhalation minimized in things like construction. So I'm not laying any other claims to the usefulness of masks beyond that.

But remember, gloves don't do shit. No virus would ever be transmitted via contact with your hands.

Wear masks.

Don't wear gloves.

wut?

Contact with eyes fucking kills the viruses.

I honestly don't know if this is sarcasm or not.

Don't you know? You don't ever need any eyes protection while wearing your 3 surgical masks at once.

That makes it more clear, sorry.

Not only do masks not work. The purpose of wearing them is to protect others from the relatively low chance of asymptomatic spread. ... ... for a disease that is already a pandemic. ... ... ... and has hardly sickened any children.

there has never been a detectable airborn "virus particle" either by itself or attached to a droplet

if there was then we could have some testing mechanism

so even the slip through mask argument isnt a reflection of reality

Masks are the easiest way for them to maintain control. It's a constant reminder that you are compliant and are waiting for them to tell you when you are allowed to take it off. On top of that schools are the easiest place to get compliance because of the authoritarian structure between teachers and students and the parents that seem to do nothing about it.

My area has already said no more masks for kids at school and really not much other than kids should stay home if they are actually sick with symptoms--which hell they should have been doing anyway. It's still public schools though and while doesn't come off as woke indoctrination, I'm sure there's some activist teachers in there.

I still just wait for all of it to get walked back even here in Texas. I saw how the dominoes fell before. No government officials here had the balls to be the one place that just said "no we aren't doing that bullshit" when everyone else around was.

From a [related article]:(https://www.reuters.com/world/us/cdc-recommends-masking-indoors-unvaccinated-students-teachers-us-schools-2021-07-09/?utm_source=ground.news&utm_medium=referral)

The American Federation of Teachers, the second-largest U.S. teachers' union, said the new CDC guidance makes sense and will help students return to the classroom.

The guidance confirms two truths: that students learn better in the classroom, and that vaccines remain our best bet to stop the spread of this virus," AFT President Randi Weingarten said in a statement.

Funny, I think I remember teachers' unions fighting pretty hard for online learning last year, saying it was just as effective as in person. I wonder what changed? It couldn't be that parents actually got to hear what was being taught to their children, could it? They only bitched about parents listening in because ...it made the student unsafe, somehow?

And, of course, the vaccine works but you still need to wear a mask and stay distant and sometimes it might not work and you can still catch a cold.

Home school your kids by any means necessary.

I pulled my child from Government School after the Orwellian response to the China Virus and some of the CRT nonsense that has even penetrated Texas schools.

Mercifully for Parents and Kids that are still in, Our Governor inked an EO which fines any Schools/Officials that require masks for Teachers, Students, or Visitors. I would rather it was codified into law, but that EO is a good start, very Desantis-like in its application.
