The question is a "mind question" on whether one should wear masks if you think doing so is participating in a lie:
I feel like being forced to wear masks is a violation of personal rights, but I want to respect the rights of businesses to decide what they require. How do I act? I feel weak. As you say, I feel if I don't stop wearing them I'm participating in a lie, and if I don't stop there's no end.
The question before (which I suspect the questioner was referring to when he says "as you say") was related to pornography, where in his answer he says the following:
I think repeatedly engaging in a behavior that you judge yourself to be morally reprehensible is a form of performative contradiction which is the acting out of a lie, and I suspect you know that or you wouldn't be asking the question.
Basically the same question in two different contexts, yet the "safe" question gets the straightforward answer and the one that might get him kicked off youtube and uninvited from cocktail parties gets the Tim Pool "it's complicated" treatment.
This would have been an understandable take in May 2020, maybe June 2020 but no later than that. It's been nearly a year and a half now. 18 months of violated rights, artificially shut down economies, lives put on hold, etc. for virtually no measurable benefit. To say we need to suspend judgement for another 6 months is absurd.
Someone pointed out the other day that Trudeau added something like one trillion dollars to the national debt over COVID without any tangible benefit and without any new infrastructure or assets going forward.
Has he ever claimed to be on the right or "conservative"? Or does he just believe right-wingers ought to be able to have bank accounts even if they aren't allowed to attend "free speech" conferences.
I think we have a delta variant of TDS - fukken Covid Derrangement Syndrome
It's the exact same desperation for narrative control and cultural hegemony. It's the exact same Liberal virus under a different name. By any normal measure, Jordan Peterson is one of the best establishment Right Wing figures, but he is still a Liberal.
Guy is on drugs. A lot of what he says is good. But some is not, IMHO. I certainly do not recommend him to anyone.
I also dislike his style in dialog. Like Ben Shapiro he attempts to win arguments by piling on stuff faster than you can parse it. When you finally do get around you find it is not nearly as strong of an argument as he makes it seem.
He also can't answer a simple question concisely and with brevity without getting lost in a long soliloquy that has very little to do with the question posed.
Jordan Peterson, for all his insight into human nature and the threat posed by Marxism and controlled speech, is naive when it comes to current-day political issues.
He doesn't understand the degree to which ALL Western institutions have been corrupted. He doesn't understand the very present and immediate threat represented by those currently in power. Despite being the victim of slander and misrepresentation by the media himself, he still trusts much of what they say when it comes to topics he himself isn't intimately familiar with (I believe there was a term for this type of cognitive bias... not sure). Somehow he still cannot believe that Democrats and the Left are so corrupt that they'd stoop to rigging an election on a mass level, or that it's even possible even if they wanted to (showing his ignorance of the American electoral system). Likewise, he can't comprehend the mass manipulation and drive for power motivating the Covid narrative.
It's one thing to be wise and have insight related to psychology and human nature... it's a very different (and very frightening) thing to recognize the true nature of the battlefield that we're currently standing on.
Well, he is a rejected figure of the elites. The fact that he's trying to keep the structure intact, or thinks that he should be keeping the system working should be on everyone's minds.
Just because someone can see through one tiny part of a grand agenda, doesn't mean they see through all of it.
He's supposed to be an "expert" in totalitarian governments...
There's blindspots and then there's "expert in the color blue fails to remark upon the sky after seeing it for the first time"

Honestly at this point he met my expectations.
Yeah...

Delta variant is here. We just need six more months to flatten the curve.
Agree.
"We stumbled by not too badly" when the police arrested people for going to the beach or holding church services.
It baffles me that anyone thinks that he's anything other than blatantly fake right. What an absolute fraud.

The guy is and always has been highly dubious IMO.

Thank you! I was wracking by brain and couldn’t remember what it was called. :)

I'm not sure where OP got his quote from, he elaborated reasonably well on the question and answered the question to an individual.
The video. He says "wait six months" twice:
Mind you this video is from three weeks ago, not 15 months ago. So what he is really asking is that someone suspend disbelief for almost 2 years.
