Nunneries/church run orphanages, etc, used to have anonymous baby drops, the idea is nothing new. The thing is, I wasn't aware they ever actually went away. They never should have NOT have been a thing.
Safe haven laws. Technically churches are included but they've essentially been pushed out due to separation of church and state and now that the state got involved they'd run the risk of getting into legal issues.
Oof. I can understand showing a measure of sympathy for the parent in that situation, but full on praising them? I can only hope they do it to encourage others who might be in the same situation, they don't actually believe it's "brave" or "selfless". Because if hearing that is enough to push you over into abandoning your baby, you probably shouldn't have it anyway.
I won't try to argue whether a baby drop box is a good or bad thing to have, but the effusive praise given to someone for using it is just unpleasant. Sure, don't announce it like "another whore abandons her responsibilities, what a bitch", but also don't praise someone for anonymously abandoning their baby.
Yeah I kinda suspect that's one of those measures to try to encourage them to drop their babies there versus throwing them in the trash or something like that. Rather be super nice about it and perhaps save the life of a baby versus being an ass and making them chuck it in the trash.
Could you imagine the outrage if they DIDN'T suck the bitches gaping cunt? Blue hairs and Feminazis would be all over them.....REFUSE to call the bitch a mom.
"I can't imagine the bravery it takes and courage it takes to surrender your newborn," Skaggs said. "I'd like the parent to know, whoever did the surrender, how brave you are. We respect you. There's no shame. You showed grace and love yesterday and it's noticed and your baby's doing well."
Monica Kelsey, the founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, said it was "the ultimate act of selflessness." Kelsey's mother abandoned her just hours after her birth.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
Even if this sort of thing is a good idea, people who abandon their kids are pretty despicable. Even if you can't say that, you sure as hell don't go around saying that they are brave, courageous, worthy of respect, etc.
"I’m so thankful she chose a safe place to surrender her child and not in a dumpster or trash can like we see too many times," Kelsey said.
Apparently, now you are entitled to respect if you don't throw your baby into a dumpster.
Well, in the past, unwanted kids were just dumped in the woods. That's why churches/nunneries/etc had anonymous baby drops for freakin' centuries, as an alternative to this.
Now consider that "unwanted kids" weren't always just the perfectly good offspring of a poor/unwed mother, but were quite often visibly retarded/crippled ....
Liberal English professor gushed about how nowadays woman aren’t shamed for being out of wedlock mothers. Now look at the rate. Kids always lose in these degenerate ideologies.
Put yourself in her position (why would you choose to have this job?) and imagine your entire job involves talking down feminists from a ledge. It would involve stroking their egos whilst carefully taking their babies out of their hands.
I remember there being a big announcement many years ago when they expanded these programs to compensate for other places not doing it anymore. It resulted in a slew of people driving across state lines to drop off teenagers they didn't want anymore. I can't find the exact article I remember reading about people driving out of Detroit to abandon teenagers, but I did find one about it happening in Omaha.
It reads like they are trying to plead for the child. All of the praise and stuff is to make the mother drop the baby at the orphanage, instead of the the trashcan.
That's really messed up, but sometimes its what is needed.
"There is no shame. We are not judging" is the sort of thing you would say if you found out your boss was eating poop. You're too afraid of him to outright say he's being disgusting.
hospital, fire station, or police station also have them. Churches use to but as per usual the state got involved and unofficially pushed them out with safe haven laws. Though some churches still have them.

I did, once. In middle school. The resulting sobs from my teacher reviewing me taught me quickly to use another word for "single parent"

They're not talking to YOU or normal people, they're talking to the mentally ill bitches who would otherwise murder their children.
To be fair, it is kinda poorly targeted, that demographic isn't usually an avid reader of local news articles.
I think it depends on the type of dumpster, need to ensure that the garbage is sorted properly...
In a sense, the baby box is a dumpster for babies.

Is this a new partnership with Wayfair or something?

That one's behind a paywall. Here's a free story.
Do I upvote the sarcasm or downvote the idea?
yes

Meanwhile, financial abortions are not even considered yet and paternity testings are illegal in some countries!
HONK HONK

Selfless? Mmmm... naw. It's definitely better than aborting the poor kid, though.
