Just when you think we have reached the height of stupidity, Epicurious (an astonishingly stupid name to begin with) decides to cancel beef because... climate change.
Today we announced that Epicurious is cutting out beef. It won’t appear in new Epi recipes, articles, newsletters, or on social. This isn’t a vendetta against cows or people who eat them. It’s a shift about sustainability; not anti-beef but pro-planet.
Our mission hasn’t changed. As always, we hope to inspire home cooks to be better, smarter, and happier in the kitchen. We understand you’re going to have questions, and we’ve tried to anticipate some of them. We’re also here to continue the conversation.
This is not a cooking site, it is a cult.
Every organization populated by pronouns types eventually becomes indistinguishable, it's the same BLM, climate change, feminism blather that you can't tell from any other or an activist organization.
Bon Appetit did a similar thing where they wiped out their existing talent to make room for people of diversity after the first round of Floyd riots. Amazingly they dropped their viewership by an order of magnitude at a time when interest in home cooking is unusually high and now 90% of their videos is the same low-T white guy anyway. At least one of their previous presenters started her own channel and is consistently outperforming them out of her home.
Unless I'm conflating two separate internet spats, I think that came from Sohla who they shitcanned after that. But before she was at BA, she was with Serious Eats and also caused drama there, some metoo shit if I recall correctly.
Now she's attached to soyboy Babish's channel. Can't wait til she crashes and burns his reddit-tier shit too.
His views have tanked since then. He'll get his previous average views on big specials, and most of his shit does half of what he used to pull. Meanwhile, she rarely gets a tenth of his views. His channel is dying, oh no.
I've noticed this as well.
I think it's in part due to the fact that his channels initial gimmick is kind of worked out. How many "Dish X" from "Show Y" are left to do?
Beyond that, almost every single attempt he's made to expand beyond that format has not gone well. Sohla and the "Babish Culinary Universe" have been cringe.
I say this as someone who genuinely likes Babish too!
I'm not subbed to Babish but he shows up in my recommended once in a while. A few days back I saw a recent video of his, on "kitchen tips", with some tiktok thot. It was literally unwatchable, I made it about 5 minutes in and I wanted to strangle both of them. The thot provided zero value and was incredibly awkward, and Babish was acting like a cringy highschooler trying to get into her pants.

I frickin' hate Sohla. She is such an annoying personality. And yes, she has caused drama at every single place she has been (excepting perhaps Babish).
The good news is that Babish and Sohla have "mutually" agreed to not renew her contract, because Sohla is ... so busy with new projects. Not because her views sucked, yeah.
I say good news because I like Babish, though I feel like within the last year or so he's come close to jumping the shark point.
Babish's content started going downhill when he showed his stupid fucking face. Happens to every content creator. Stay anon, make good shit, it's literally that simple.
I finally got sick of his shit at Troy's casserole from community. Dude didn't even try for the show accurate version, and then did some froufrou bullshit instead of making a casserole. Like nigga you have one job and it's to make food from the tele or movies
That and the channel rename. "Culinary Universe", my man you ain't even a proper chef. Epitome of reddit-tier Dunning-Krugerism
Her recipes suck ass, too
It would be pretty funny if Rea's youtube career get blown up because he gets accused of doing a misconduct to the least attractive woman on the platform.
I liked Claire having big city Jewish girl fits over candy bars and Brad was an entertaining big bear.
The others... Nah. The gay guy with a wife was fussy, the Arab gay just plain irritating. Skinny older Jewish woman was okay, I guess (Carla or something).
But at the same time, if they showed a white person cooking that food, itd be racist. Catch 22
CRT is "heads I win, tails you lose".
Daily reminder to drop Binging with Reddit after he brought on that racist, whiny, black hole of charisma. "Why am I, someone who was hired to test recipies, not getting paid as much as the most popular and fun hosts? Brad isn,xt funny and enjoyable, and you are racist for liking a white man"
Yeah, these websites are idiotic. Beef is very popular still. Epicurious, isn't even a vegan website, so what the fuck are they doing? They're going to kill themselves. Good! LOL.
Aren't Bon Appetit Magazine and Epicurious one and the same? Or at least closely related? When I was teenager(ish) Epicurious had a cooking show I watched and I distinctly remember the host saying "Brought to you by Epicurious and Bon Appetit Magazine." at the end of every show.
EDIT: I got the wording wrong but I got the content right.
Did not know that. Apparently they are distinct companies but with significant overlap in staff (and of course both owned by Conde Nast but who isn't).
