So it looks like the Nier derivative work guidelines include ‘Do not engage in conduct that is contradictory to public order and morality, or exceeds what is societally acceptable.’
But as I’ve mentioned before, I feel like the content of the Nier franchise itself already crosses those lines…
The full guidelines can be found here, complete with contradictory statements about not using fan works for “commercial purposes” and yet being okay with doujinshi sold at Comiket.
It would not be at all surprising if some artists do what many Evangelion artists did: delete their accounts and all the associated art.
Phase 1: Use corpo wokeness to destroy one of the most prominent avenues of fan appreciation of a popular and financially lucrative IP that confuses even the creator who has stated on numerous occasions that he both enjoys and encourages this fan engagement.
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit
EDIT: On the other hand, when Blizzard tried to go after Overwatch porn all that did was Streisand Effect it and we see how that turned out.
Literally the only good thing that overwatch did
Overwatch was more known for its quality SFM porn than actual game's merit. It's both hilarious and sad.
Overwatch 2 trailer looks like trash compare to all the nice blender rendered porn.
Blizzard pretty much had to go after the people ripping their models from the game itself because of our weird copyright laws.
If you let it slide for one reason you have to let it slide for any reason.
