The Donald just errored out on me, and now opens up to a redirect to a "rebranded Patriots.win." Is this legit, or should I expect federal foul play?

To be fair, while the whole thing feels a bit glowie, my cached login credentials took me right in, and the sticky post there explains what's up. If it had bugged me to create a new account or re-login then I'd be a bit more worried, but for now I'm accepting it as legit.
Because this means that either:
The entire site is compromised, all the way down to the mods on every sub-Win site, and the whole place now can be seen glowing from space. OR
The sticky is legit, and understandable given that the one dude who owned the domain could completely fuck the entire user base of of TD by forcing a redirect to anywhere else in the world.
Occam's Razor points to the second being the most likely case.
tl;dr of the sticky: the domain of "thedonald.win" was owned by a former mod who left and promised to transfer ownership. He didn't, so they created a new one and are redirecting traffic to the new space.
If you login here on KiA2 you're automatically logged in on their "new" site. So it runs the same community/authentication.win backend and is part of the network.
They have a sticky that explains why they did it: https://patriots.win/p/11SJoRrHUX/the-future-is-here/c/
Their sticky's story about the domain ownership is also consistent with the content of this WSJ article I saw posted here a few days ago: https://archive.is/O1JJN
Wait, so were mods purged when the site moved? Because that's never a good sign...
From the announcement on the new patriots.win, it sounds like the opposite happened. The mod who wanted to start suppressing 'violent, racist and anti-Semitic postings' (and received death threats as a result) either quit or got shown the door by the others, but since he was the owner of the T_D.win domain, said other mods had to make the switch to the new domain (which is owned by them and not the guy who left). I've yet to see any indicator that any of the other T_D head honchos besides that one guy has left.
Ah, interesting, thanks!
So basically, the equivalent of moving subreddits to get away from david_me or whatever, if that hadn't been resolved other ways. Yeah, that sounds good.
I don't think so. One specific mod left on their own according to the sticky post, and he was the one who actually owned the domain "thedonald.win".
Looking at their mod list, I'm 100% positive these 4 in particular have been there a long time and that's totally off my memory, I'm sure there are more.
I have no idea which mod was Jody Williams or which mod left, as I don't really go over there much anymore to follow. Of course you can get into whether the mods have been replaced by plants or other levels of paranoia I choose to not go to. The fact of the matter is if it's full of leftist agents now, the most they have about me is what they can ascertain from my posts, a user ID, password, and an IP address. I can deal with that.
I think they're rebranding because Trump is no longer president. Calling the movement "The Donald" doesn't make much sense. That said it let mo go over to the other site while keeping me logged in with my current account and has all my post history there (I didn't have to log in or anything). So if the feds have that much, I doubt they'd just blatantly change the site to collect some login info.
Came here to wonder the same thing. Anyone?
if there was no prior warning that they were going to "rebrand" i am thinking its the latter
wasn't the plan to roll it into a communities.win competitor to reddit? why roll it to a new primary domain?
It's their main project and a dedicated primary domain is better than some generic "unbranded" domain.
True, but the way to bring more people to .win is to entice them with other things. The only reason I started posting more on Reddit was because it was THE place for planetside 2, and then slowly branched out.
Most people don't even know that communities.win exists, but it's there as a start. I view it as somewhat being Reddit 2.0, but without all the SJW bullshit (at least not until they start infiltrating).
Yeah I'm suspicious too, especially since the main communities.win page still links to thedonald.win.
Based on your username you should be in the know.
Looks like they've updated it.
It seems legit, but always suspect foul play.
If the Glowing Ones wanted your info, Cloudflare checks addresses and entry points which can be cross-referenced with other sites which likely have google sniffers, they could get your info easily enough.
This seems like a conveniently-timed rebranding and moderator meltdown co-incidence, it was TheDonald part of the address that went bad, not the .win part.
I wouldn't trust it.
