It's not often I use rats escaping from a sinking ship, but man look at that.

yeah, sat at the barber 2 days ago waiting for 2 hours because everyone wanted a haircut before the new lockdown.

beautiful to hear how the mood shifted from 'ok, let's follow this bullshit, they said 2 weeks right' to everyone just shaking their heads and bringing up 1 of those evil conspiracy theories after another. even the great reset was mentioned.

my neighbour, a teacher of all things, just recently whispered to me what i'm doing over the holidays, trying to figure out if someone would snitch on her if she brought family home for christmas. so even the ppl who i would most likely see working for the fucking stasi had enough and don't believe the virus to be anything extrodinary to fear.

spez: ah, forgot my old schoolfriends who are doctors and 1 a nurse. met them over a couple of beers. when another friend of ours showed up and asked how they are doing during the pandemic they just laughed and asked her 'what pandemic?'

I have relatives who are doctors. They don't follow lockdown laws.

If they ever get a fine, it's a near-trivial expense for them. Real consequences are for the lower class

If they were really serious about "lockdowns", then planes would have been completely grounded since fucking January, and NOT ONE would have flown since.

Funny that. It's not like suggestions of panic have then gone on to cause panic in the past.

Like when David Cameron suggested people might want to top up their car fuel even though there was no petrol crisis. And then caused a petrol crisis because people took this as a sign there was going to be one.

Or the panic buying earlier this year.

Or any other year.

I find it funny that certain countries started banning travels from England after detecting cases of coronavirus with a mutation that changes basically nothing to the situation.

They learned absolutely nothing. By the time you detected the new form, it already spread to several countries and you merrily let those off the travel ban ( WuFlu was found in pneumonia patients samples in France in December 2019 ).

If you actually care to keep this out, have the means, authoritarianism and functional brain, by the time the virus is found it's time to shut all travel, agressively track any case and forcefully quarantine them and their contacts.

Then you may possibly succeed, like Taiwan, or struggle for months with mixed results semi-fail, like South Korea.

We are in this mess because politicians are spineless cowards who decide policy based on the ramblings of journalists.

If they lock things down too early the journos cry xenophobia. If you don't lock it down because it's too late they cry "you're killing everybody!". Policy is being dictated by emotionally driven retards with a glorified blog. Thus we end up with a schizophrenic mess that achieves nothing.

It's actively worse than nothing usually, it's impressive how much they can fuck shit up pandering to metaphorical retards with megaphones.

So people are aware that wasn't panic flights to flee the country. Majority were panic flights to ensure they could get their holiday in during the "relaxation" of covid rules. Many families have ch osen to forgone meeting with each other so they don't have to be isolating before they travel.

Not says ng it's not idiocy, it is. Just saying don't take it as the mass exodus of "fleeing" that op and the DM want people to believe. If they push it enough, I guess it could become that however.
