This image is a decent summary. The only thing is that it was one guy she slept with in the games media and he wasn't "reviewing" the game, but giving it positive press on Kotaku.
Basically the "gaming news" has hated people who like games since at least 2012 and it culminated in a scandal where indie devs had intimate relationships with people in the media and it was totally undisclosed. Instead of admitting that they did something wrong, they doubled down and said gamers are horrible bigots that need to be ignored and silenced.
Deepfreeze also has some good articles, even if they're a bit out of date at this point.

That's why we called it Five Guys Burger and Fries. She fucked at least five different games journalists for clout. Her boyfriend wrote a huge expose shitpost after he realized he got cucked hard.
It was 5 guys but the only notable one I remember was Nathan Grayson at Kotaku, the others may have been in the games industry but I don't think they were journalists.

After that was made public the ENTIRE FUCKING INDUSTRY circled its wagons defending milady and attacked the gamers (their alleged audience) who pointed out they can't trust someone who is getting blown in exchange for coverage.
The attacks they used were the same sneering language that academics have been using for years to describe middle america for decades.

so reading what a lot of people have said, it seems to be a much bigger event than what i had thought(the UN is really part of the disgusting corruption). and its really gross what happened. Narcissistic people in power trying to hide their disgustingness , corruption and evil behind the fake veil of "social justice" and spreading lies and smears about anyone that calls them out. and wow i knew about zoe and alec and i already knew zoe was lowly and had a lying , clout chasing, corrupt behaviour but i didn't know she had also slept with journalists, that kick started all this stuff and of course the media defended it (and attacked gamers), cause all of them are disgusting and corrupt.

So, sexual payola committed by people who actually hate games and the people who play them, and are actively trying to get games destroyed by bitching over the stupidest things.
And unlike the music industry, they're not even ashamed of being caught out for payola, never mind sexual payola, they instead defend it, and double down on the game-wrecking.
Does that sound about right, boiled down into a nutshell? Because yeah, that tracks with everything else going on.
Payola is very open and blatant to the point that nothing could be trusted.
Games journos/streamers will just straight up approach someone in public and say, "You want your game reviewed? Contact me and we can talk price." It's not happening otherwise, unless you have some clout that they can use to bring attention to themselves, or they can manufacture something out of you as they did in GG.
I would never give media people the time of day again unless I actually have evidence that they're not like this.
A mentally ill person (possibly borderline) was exploited by predatory journalists who used her for sex and stories, went on to allegedly sleep with at least one GG supporter who "confronted" her with criticism (dealing with negativity in a borderline-like manner), and was just generally exploited by a community who milked their collective victimization to get donations and press from a niche audience of aggrieved zealots who treated it as a religious cause. It was a case that simply served to highlight problems in the journalism and game industries.
