Some others included in the nominations are essential workers, Late-night host Trevor Noah, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and tennis star Naomi Osaka to name a few.
The only one that even comes close to meeting the criteria of "the person or group of people who had the greatest influence on events in 2020 – whether for better or worse" would be essential workers, and that would basically be like thanking the ground for not crumbling beneath your feet.
What I mean by that is if you decide the person of the year is the millions of people who essentially allow society to function, how can you consider any other single person to be a person of the year after that? Will any singular person have the same affect as the hundreds of thousands of delivery drivers that ensured millions of people would still have access to the food and goods they need to live? That any one person can compare to the millions of cashiers that allowed people to still buy things?
Yes it says it can be "for worse", but do you really think they would have Time's person of the year be a woman and have it be for negative reasons? Honestly I think her inclusion (and Trevor Noah's to a lesser extent) is just to drum up controversy and get attention.
Hitler, Stalin, Whitmer.
Consistent, has a good ring to it. Sure, she's got my vote.
(Seriously though, anyone else expecting a Bee article on the other side of that archive link?)
I wonder, can we try and cancel TIME for making Hitler Person of the Year in 1938 and making it Stalin...twice.
Maybe.
Oh, nonononono. Saint Jughashvili of the Dead Kulak will never be cancelled.
The Bee will give it to Huang Yan Ling.
Michigan is Whitmer, and Whitmer is Michigan! Hail Hydra!
She's aiming for winning the "Most constitutional violations in one year" category...?

Person of the year was ReeToo cultists a couple of years ago.
ReeeeeeToo, pretty good!
Why is that hack on the list? He isn't (in my opinion worse) any different from the other late night jimmies, other than him being black.
Seems like you answered your own question there.
Whitmer's winning awards, Cuomo's winning awards ... Clearly the leftist authoritarians are just superior people.
I'm getting a bit tired of fucking honk world.
How about whatever Chinese researcher it was who forgot to wash his hands before eating at the wet market?
Well, she isn't called Whitler without cause.
Must be a hell of an echo chamber
You misspelled "cunt"
