In Germany the government and its media simply frame lockdown protesters as literally Hitler. Journalists and politicians claim there were Nazi symbols among the protesters to smear them. It works even when official opposition inquiries later reveal that police found no forbidden symbols.
The one thing our government excels at above all else is propaganda.

Several months back, I was thinking the virus panic would be the end of a lot of politicians careers because of how obviously insane their reactions have been, and how its security theater at best or insane power-grabs at worst.
I still feel that way about the government reactions, but now I'm growing disillusioned by how many people are still buying into the hype despite more and more evidence showing that its utter nonsense.
Italy has apparently started to form mobs around politicians' homes with the police standing down out of solidarity.
When things start to get to that point, politicians will find a way to dig their way out of the hole.
