Is that a rule we need here? It was my understanding that we adopted that rule on reddit due to admin threat.

Never heard this one. Definition?

It was a bit of a wild ride, so I had some trouble grasping the inclination of the founders/mods. Looking back now, with some of the things posted in this thread, I think it may have been pure naivete. My gut assumption was that it got picked up and thrown into popularity by guys from thedonald, it matched their sort of "energy" and interests. I've always thought they were naive as well, so I feel reinforced in my assumption.
It got a lot of attention for a while and now it can be used as a jab until it gets banned as hatespeech everywhere. So we'll at least see it once in a while even if there's no official group for it.

I think we all have some highly valid theories for this, but I'm personally not prepared to discuss mine in a coherent way. No matter your theory, though, it'll come down to a second question of "why are the perpetrators immune to the law".
Fine, fine, here: https://anon.cafe/boards.js
That shows the webring. Do you remember webrings? They came back. (actually, the win network is like a webring too)
Even if you're a fed, the attacks have been mild recently so I think they can handle having a reason to upgrade security.
I browse their movies once in a while and have found some very enjoyable films and shows through them. All old stuff, though, from around the 70s.
They have made it very difficult to browse their New (as in, newly acquired digital rights) section now, so I don't really bother with it anymore. I'd like some more odd old stuff to watch in my free time.
Every user that would be viewing them? Or every user that would be receiving a flair? The latter shouldn't be too hard.
Ahh, okay.
The only non-color complaint I had has been resolved by the recent update. There was a slight vertical offset by a few pixels between the "cancel" and "save" buttons. I only ever noticed this when typing replies from the 'new messages' page, but it was bothering me more than it maybe should have. So thanks!
Edit: Taking the chance to request an attempt at getting a flair system implemented here like we had on reddit.
Whoa, wtf, there's other people using old pale moon?!
old pale moon browser.
That's me! The colors for dark mode look much better now. I'll try to watch for stuff being weird in the next few days.
Good stuff, man, thanks for sharing. It's a special kind of entertainment that may ultimately be petty, but now I get to observe how effective it is in practice without playing along with nonsense.
Better yet: rewrite the whole thing in your own words.
Basically it turns everything into government by rabble and special aggrieved interests.
Well, I agree that it'd turn out pretty rough if applied to our present large scale society, so let me walk it back and try again.
I actually think that'd be a way to describe the feature of small scale communities. It rapidly becomes a problem when you have multiple communities participating in the same vote, but if each community is only allowed to vote for affecting their own borders, what's the problem? Any border sharing of multiple communities will carry strife and negotiations with it, so that doesn't change much - cities can even continue being like a nightmare.
You could even require a majority vote of 90%+ in such small scale communities without totally paralyzing legislation, since it's not far off to assume that members of a community would have shared interests.
Edit (unclear point): direct democracy should only be a problem when people have changes forced upon them by people that do not (or can not) represent their interests. Reduction of scale should diminish this problem.
what you're looking for is personal responsibility. Democracy defuses that.
That is something I'd like, but how does democracy defuse it? Is there a form of government that does not? I thought it'd be the best at permitting the interests of all involved to be represented, even if no one is able to get a win for their interest. If I want to pursue something unpopular, like permittinng non-pasteurized dairy to be sold, I'd prefer throwing my vote into an empty bucket rather than trying to find a representative that promises to help and totally won't betray any other interests.
I'd probably advocate for a meddling system to make sure that the rats fleeing sinking ships are known to be associated with failure when they try to vote in their new homes. No need to get harsh with it, allow each community to handle that information in their own way. If they're fully integrating, the new host community likely won't care. But I also realize that this is reminiscent of a social credit score and feel like that marks some failure on my part.
Within specific communities, any legislative failures could have repurcussions for the people that voted for it, as each community would be free to have whatever rules they like for their members (excluding the prevention of leaving, ideally). Yes, it could get stupid, but that's a feature to me, because success means nothing when you could never fail. I think it's only cruel or accelerationist when scaled up.
The smaller governments get together to refuse the authority of the bigger ones. The bigger ones always face internal power struggles. The smaller ones face shifting alliances.
Isn't this basically returning to our roots? It sounds like the vision of the founding fathers might fit with this, though maybe I don't know their vision really well.
So, a Green book-burning? Maybe we'll get an article sometime about how good it is for the environment. "Low carbon hate deletion" maybe.
The only time I ever appreciated services like netflix was when I was in an unfamiliar place and didn't know where to find the rental store.
I was getting old vhs rentals for a quarter each in early 2000s. Some of those movies I couldn't even find on torrents, and have yet to see pop up in a major streaming service. Sometimes I would travel to nearby small towns just to check their rental stores because I loved finding a movie I hadn't already seen.
When redbox popped up, I thought it was a joke. Quadruple price plus shorter rental duration? Who'd take that? The people that only watch the hottest new blockbuster of the year, apparently. Then everyone gave up without even trying to change their business model, fucking losers.
But what now? Even if someone realized that it was a mistake at this point, where are they gonna get copies of those movies that never even got torrent copies? I got lucky and found a bunch for sale at a bloody porn store of all places, but I've nowhere near enough to start a rental store.
Thanks for confirming.
Okay, cool, good to hear.
Personally, I think your discussional value should disqualify you from the jannie position, even if I don't see you post much. We need good posters posting, and janny duties could compromise it on multiple levels.
Well now I'm confused. CptLightning's OP here pointed out two seperate issues. I thought you were addressing the second issue (having to do with the week old thread), but now you mention spamming and I have to ask.
Well, they're claiming that I'm not worthy to criticize something, so they need to convince me of that. If they can convince me that I really don't have the right to my own opinions, then they successfully turned me into a non-human.
It also boils down to an appeal to authority, which is rarely a respectable argument.
Generously, their argument could be coming from an assumption that your criticism is meant to convince them, but this embarrasingly reverts to my prior point.
I can't complain much when I refuse to learn modern webcode, but it's not great to hear this. Are thedonald admins who to petition here? Are we being trapped in the tiny box of their design?
Was my assumption as well. Perhaps we should get a mod log up and running here? I have no clue how to request upgrades here.
At least one of those spam threads' posters is making similar spam comments over on wallstreetbets. If you look at the names of the accounts along with the things posted, it isn't hard to understand who/why. I think if one were to browse other .win sites, they'd find the same users posting the same things on each.
Wakey wakey jannies!
gone within a few hours of it being posted.
I'd ask the guy who started that thread if he deleted it himself. Our mods aren't usually such faggots that they delete threads with discussions.
Populism becomes the de facto religion of the Right
This would be fascinating. Has this occurred, historically?
Ahh, that makes sense, thanks. I would have expected the pluralization to go on the "goy", though I disagree with transforming an 's' into 'zzes' anyway. It syncs with the level of coherency granted in the OP, so I can buy it.
