I had a copy when I was younger and it all revolves around the idea that there is something wrong with you that only they can fix. charlatanism at its finest.

I got about 5 books into his other series Mission Earth - but it wasn't a patch on Battlefield Earth so I gave up on it. I remember it was the first series I never completed. What is interesting though about Mission earth is that it could almost be playbook for the WEF and it predicted a few things , the series has some parallels between the events in the books and the current world situation. For example, the series depicts a global pandemic, a nuclear war, a climate crisis, a corrupt media, and a totalitarian regime. It also predicted the rise of cryptocurrencies, social media, and artificial intelligence. But at the same time the writing was shit , it was a barely concealed Dianetics propaganda and very anti-psychiatry. So in summary -Stick with Battlefield Earth ;)

Battlefield Earth is definitely worth reading. Ignore the film and everything else Hubbard ever did. I've mentioned in other posts my fave is mind-bending i.e PKD. But apart from that anything from the golden age of classic sci-fi. But in regards to Modern stuff i'd say my favourite is Iain M. Banks - Player of Games is probably my favourite in the Culture Series, but Consider Plebas , Use of Weapons, State of the Art and Surface detail all amazing - whole series is great.

This was always the plan - from when they created Hamas to when they did the October 7th false flag and told the helicopters to stand down. THEY PLAN EVERYTHING. Herzl planned this 150 years ago.

You'll enjoy it. I got a second hand copy at a book shop and I read it to just before the end and someone had ripped out the last few pages. I won't say anything else because its so easy to spoil Childhoods End - suffice to say the person who ripped out the last few pages was offended by it. Luckily I found a copy in the library and was able to read the ending. But the TV series actually does the big ending reveal quite well.

It's a funny co-incidence that most sightings occur near advanced propulsion testing areas. The templars did a film showing how the UFOs were first created early in WW II by the Germans after they had been to Tibet and learnt the old technologies. But they never mastered the tech before the war ended and the project was moved to America with operation paperclip. All UAV's are US Secret tech. Aliens were here long ago but integrated through DNA splicing. But one group went back to their homeworld - a very long journey - when they left they selected a 'chosen' few with the knowledge of their return (the messiah prophecy). But no-one even knows whether they made it back let alone returning to earth.

Like many Psychonauts you just sort of learn stuff by experience. But if you do your research correctly it will alwys lead to the same ends. A good start though is Aldous Huxleys The Perrenial Philosophy and the The Doors of Perception.

OK - So what has happened is that when the explosion occurred they actually died and then went into the Bardo states. The Bardos are 4 (really 8) states of consciousness - waking life, sleeping life, sleeping death, waking death - that's not really accurate but it's close enough. As I mentioned it helps to understand some Buddhism and I don't mean exoteric Buddhism I mean esoteric budhism. Yes one is lower case. Ubik was based on Timothy Learys Tibetan Book of the Dead - which is basically a guide to Gnosis via acid. Soma was the traditional gnostic imbibement but Gnosis can be achieved in multiple ways - so if you're willing you can actually see what death is before you have your final death - this prepares you for travel through the bardos. When in the Bardo's you will be distracted by lights that represent your karma. If you are say distracted by the red light - you will not complete the incarnation cycle and instead be reborn as an animal. The ultimate goal is to not be reborn - Moksha, Samadhi - Annihilation. One with the void - this takes years of meditation to achieve which is why everyone just ends up reincarnating again. I could actually write a book longer than Ubik itself about it. There are two traditional Mystical Schools - In the East its Mahayana Buddhism (esoteric not exoteric) and in the West it is the Gnosis of the Essenes which was passed on to the Rosicrucians. In essence Initiation is death and rebirth. Death itself is the cessation of all information - very hard to achieve as the mind usually has latent energy which generates thoughts. However it is achievable as I can personally attest.

But - I'd also suggest reading Hesse's Siddartha and Zelazny's Lord of Light soon after Ubik. it will keep themes fresh and you'll gain some information synergy. And if after that you;re interest is piqued you can up the ante and dive headfirst in Trialogues at the Edge of the West (Non-fiction but mind-bending)
