"Speak softly and carry a big stick" -Theodore Roosevelt
While Roosevelt was talking about foreign policy, this is sage advice for individuals as well. Anyone who would take your stick away will not be speaking softly for long.
"How many divisions does the Pope have?" -Joseph Stalin
I always took it as having patient and thoughtful speech over boisterousness. But also having the mental (or material) conviction to back up what you say.
it's the old definition of meek.
you are calm and respectful, but god help anyone who wrongs you.
The catholic church destroyed itself by appointing this atheist communist to the seat of the holy see.
He should disarm all of his personal guards and lead by example
how many personal guards does he have, exactly?
135, all armed: https://archive.is/wip/k0gdH
How concerned should we with this stance when we know the supreme court nominee is a devout catholic?
I know many Catholics believe his entire elevation to Pope was a subversive sham and don't listen to his very heretical and constant revisions.
Can't speak for that one in particular, but the current Pope doesn't enjoy that same "infallibility and naively trust" power of previous ones.
Depends, I know more than one Catholic that gets very sullen when you talk about Pope Marcis.
I said in the Amy Coney Barrett thread yesterday that we should look out for the Pope to start proffering his opinion about US politics around to anyone who will listen. The Dems are for sure going to try and get a straight up denouncement of Barrett from the Pope. He might even threaten excommunication.
Honestly, I thinks its time for the rise of the American Orthodox Church.
Pretty concerned.
A diversity hire is tanking Christianity lol
Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
I doubt the current pope even believes in the bible or god.
If they're not careful the catholic church will end up like the CoE, an investment company paying for the maintenance of empty churches.
