Like every principle the left proclaims to hold, politician term and age limits are tools with which to beat the enemy over the head rather than sincerely held beliefs, and stop applying the moment they could be used against their own

Age- and Term-limits are a little bit problematic, see other answers here. I err on your side of the question though, so there's that.

What I would like to see is something completely different.

Every law has to have a stated measurable goal before it can be passed. Like "Speed-Limits to decrease the number of fatal accidents". These goals have to be on a reasonable timescale, of course.

If the time has passed the law will be measured against its goal. If it failed to achieve the goal the law gets abolished without replacement.

Example:

I propose a law that funnels money into getting more [insert opressed minority here] into College. The goal is that [insert opressed minority here]'s relative income rises by 10 percent within the next 10 years.

So, when the income inevitably doesn't rise the funding stops, no exceptions.

Of course the goal cannot be self-fulfilling. Like "I propose a law that funnels money into getting more [insert opressed minority here] into College so more [insert opressed minority here] get into college" or "let's make a speed limit so people drive slower".

You know how drivers over 60 have special restrictions put on them, and they need to get tested every few years to make sure they aren't going blind or senile? Perhaps our politicians should have to undergo similar testing, since their mistakes could potentially kill more than any car crash could.

Politicians do get tested every few years - it's called an election. If their constituents think that no politician should remain in the job longer than 12 years, they already have the power to enforce that belief by voting them out. You could argue that a Supreme Court position should not be for life so that it takes less than death to remove a judge who has become unfit to hold the position, but you're not trying to convince people if you end with "leftists are god's mistakes."

disagree, thats what elections ard for, to get rid of people who cant do job. We all age differently, some people are still incredibly sharp at a very long age.

Maybe some sort if cognative test to provd still fit for job.
