The "problem" is that they can't create their ideal utopian future until they completely eliminate all things from the past that people in the present may take national, or cultural, pride in.

Never mind that most of these silly college goofballs who regurgitate this type of garbage have close to zero life experience, have never worked, have never had bills, and were picking their noses in grade school up until recently; they are the ones who know what's wrong with the world.
Don't worry though, the rest of the world has never done socialism/communism correctly! These people, who are barely not children have solved the riddle that's plagued us all -- and thank goodness, right?
I can't even imagine the levels of narcissism and ego necessary to believe something like that.
Socialism is a dream. Even if you could perform some miracle to make it work economically, It still requires people in power who are legitimately selfless, altruistic, kind, and want the best for everyone -- we can't even do that now. So why would people want to weaken the power they do have in the system, for beaurcrats to gain even more?

That's the problem. You want the exact kind of people in power - who do not generally seek power. And if they do, they are the ones most likely to become (often unwitting) puppets of the types who crave it, but prefer to stay in the shadows.
Simple, if you're an idiot extremist, anything that does not support your political position will be seen to undermine it. All must submit before the might of the Party!
