Basically any place where I can interactt with other people now need to "ensure" I am "18+." A way to prop up their buddy and their ID farming database. Also NO, I'm not taking a fucking selfie. They can fuck off. Whatt I look like is none of their fucking business.
So Canada is pure junk now. Soon I won't even be able to use Discord. So I wanna move, but where? Is there any country left that isn't a dystopian shithole at this point?
It's fucking infuriating that nobody cares, media cheers it up of course (like their cheered muh vax passport and muh 8pm curfew (yes you read that right)) and I'm just sick to death of this place.
A fucking apple is $2.50 here, bread is $5.49, butter is $9.49... no one says anything, no one does anything... A fucking disgusting Hungry Man meal is $8.29... I saw a frozen pizza for $18.99, like who even buys this shit? Get a dominos at this point, holy shit.
And nobody does anything. No one cares. People just keep going. 10,000 indians a week coming in? No problem! Let's justt keep going!
I say things. I try to encourage people to do things. Most people in Canada don't want to improve the country though. Most Canadians like high prices, low wages and authoritarian governments.
Converted to USD, a lot of that processed crap is really similar price here. I've seen frozen pizzas that price for sure and I've never looked at Hungry Man in ages, but whatever they sell here now that's "diet" slop meals with a few hundred calories of garbage is easily $6 US.
Produce isn't that high here though at all. I just bought an apple for a recipe and I know it wasn't $2.50 I don't even think it was $1 US. I haven't bought bread in a while. The good Irish butter is probably $6 if I remember right. If you buy that solidfied oil garbage "I can't believe it's not butter" crap then it's cheap. Meat might be, you could certainly find ground beef for that. I cook a ton, and I use cheap beef cuts a lot, they can be made nice in the right dish.
I've gotten really good deals on pork at Costco. Once I switch to carnivore I suspect pork and eggs will be staples for me.
I switched to cooking 90% of my food a couple years ago. I've had a few slips where I get lazy, but generally cook it all from as close to unprocessed ingredients I can get. I really barely pay attention to food prices anymore because I had such a noticeable decrease in cost from eating slop and takeout that it really doesn't matter anymore. I didn't go carnivore though, I eat a lot of rice and pasta. Very little bread. I'm very particular about sugar being added where it's not needed. Pork is great and super cheap. A lot of my cooking probably leans more east Asian in style versus American slab of meat with some roasted veggies, and you can do so much with random bits of pork when you're working in small chunks.
I just specifically remember seeing a $12.99 frozen pizza last week though. I had the same response, WTF who would buy this.
Thats the thing, why are you converting it to usd. Canadians get paid shit wages, and their prices are insane. For example in halifax the calculated wage for just renting a place and buying food is at 28$ a hour. This was two years ago, it has to be much higher now.

The only cheap meat left is pork, and its not that cheap. I also happen to hate pork, id rather just eat more veggies and less meat.
Canada is truly and utterly fucked but i swear to fuck they keep homelessness around as a motivator to people to keep up or go live on the street. People here with jobs who cant find a affordable place to live. I cant see it getting any better with the mega rich at the helm.
God damn its like this article the other day about WCB and their rates being the lowest in years!
Yeah thats because the evil mother fuckers are denying legitimate claims left and right, not just mine.
Pure evil runs this world, and its not demons or aliens, its fucking people.
I technically earn $30 an hour (as a teacher) and I can BARELY survive.
I have $100-200 for "me" at the end of the month, TOPS. And I live in a shithole place and massively underpay compared to market prices. And I'm a high school teacher
Yeah I really assumed from lack of keeping up with it that Canadians made a similarly inflated wage as if hour-for-hour it was roughly the same at least before tax. Which can vary wildly in the states as to how bad the tax burden is. If you're saying the wages are a lot worse that's just brutal. All the cost of a government that hates it's citizenry, and that list seems to be growing to all of them.
CAD I assume? Even that is crazy expensive. How does it get to be like that? Butter is 5 euros? Crazy.
CAD. 90% of the grocery is unaffordable. No, I am not paying $13.99 for a pound of ground beef.
Ground beef is expensive everywhere I think. The other prices were fairly crazy.
And we (Ontario and Quebec) are major dairy producers. The cartels artificially inflate the price by forcing farmers to dump milk down the drain and nobody says anything.
It astonishes me that your average leaf (not you, you seem based) can see all this going on and the only country they ever complain about is the USA.
Anyway we'd love to have you but things are just as fucked here, just in a different way. Either way it'll be time to plan the inevitable SMO to liberate Alberta soon enough.
