The implied statement with every aggrieved black person bemoaning the sentence is the acknowledgement that a black person would not find him guilty because he is black and the victim is white. That is it. I bet every other facet, class, residency, culture, the jury was equal to Karmelo. But it doesn't matter the only thing they see is black skin. That's what kills me with the well meaning color blind white people.
If they were truly "color blind", they'd see [entity of unknown skin color] pledging to judge people of [skin color] solely based on [skin color], and want all those people jailed, extirpated, deported, or generally removed from society.
