The legal argument was basically what you just typed. Their ancestors were fine living their lives, and today the island is solely dependent on tourism. They would have been happier left alone. That is a super summary, but that was the legal argument. And, it won!

Not especially relevant here. Your case is a single family, which directly profited from slavery, on a small island. This is not at all analogous to the US.
Fortunately, I don't think many Supreme Court justices count flippant message board posts as legal precedent.
