I recently watched Sleepaway Camp 1 and 2 on Tubi and am currently watching Outer Limits and GI Joe on it. But whenever I look through the content it makes me think whoever came up with Tubi must have been a manager of a video rental store who has a basement full of VHS. I’m amazed at how many straight to video/dvds came out b from the 80s to early 00s. So many I’ve never heard of but in the 80s as a kid I wasn’t aware of a lot of stuff I wasn’t allowed to watch but I remember sneaking out past bedtime to watch Porkys or watching Revenge of the Nerds with my older brother when I was 6.
I do remember watching some 80s b movie on Tubi a while back and giving it high marks because the men were masculine and the women were feminine.
Also made me glad to see Chuck Norris movies were the one of the most streamed content this past week.
Just for fun I looked up what current year “nerd sites” had to say about Sleepaway Camp and to no surprise they said it is problematic and “didn’t age well” which is a phrase I hate because it’s always some idiot critic that finds offense in everything saying that
Sleepaway camp aged better if anything.

Love it!
That ending. I watched it about 10 year ago. Stuck with me for years. For an 80's movie it's defo top 10. Even the pre-finale make-up is pretty gross/good.
I love the story with Tubi. After 21st Century Fox was sold to Disney for $71 billion, Foxcorp took $440 million of it and bought Tubi. Tubi was immediately profitable and became Disneys closest competitor in the streaming wars. Disney was too focused on taking on Netflix to notice that Foxcorp was taking them to the woodshed and bankrolling it with Disney's money.
It will go down in history as one of the savviest business moves ever. They played Iger like a fiddle.
Who would’ve thought all the older stuff would be something people wanted
Older... QUALITY stuff! Not new "messaging" that you see 24/7 on most other platforms as well.
Love that, in active topics, this one is right above the one ranting about how they hate the term "content".
"Didn't Age Well" is another one of those nasty terms. FF7's graphics didn't age well. Not because Tifa was held up off a cliff by her breasts, but because it was low-res polygons aiming for realism instead of a stylized presentation. Even "it was a product of its time" has a lot of inherent negativity to it. Why don't more people simply say "It was one of the greats of its era". Same ACTUAL meaning (it was good then, but less so in modern lenses), but the connotation is much more positive-neutral. We need not be negative.
Yea I just usually see it said when something from the past offends modern audience sensibilities. I’m able to understand when something was made or set and enjoy it. Like the uproar over Gone With the Wind a few years ago was silly.
You are right though
I've honestly seen a lot of content that didn't age well.
Sorry (not sorry 😉) if that offends you, eh?
Some media just loses appeal over time. What was new and innovative (thus appealing) in the 70's might look like dreck today.
The great ones don't lose power over the ages. Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales & many others are still as riveting as when they were written.
Most of PK Dick's writings still resonate some 60+ years alter. Which is why so many have been made into movies & TV series! With two of his absolute best works "yet to come" (in development hell).
Ubik! Perfectly safe when used EXACTLY as directed! 😲
Valis Which is far better than it seems to be on first glance. It's deep!
Read Valis Here! or almost all of his works, or free! He really is one of the greatest. He wrote for the "common man" and his honesty shines through his words.
I love PKD books and get your point but a lot of those people use the term because they find the movie offensive to a modern woke audience. I get things can be dated but I am pretty retro so I like that lol. I guess I should have said I find that term annoying when they say it because it offends the woke crowd.
I watch Tubi and Roku sometimes they are both good for certain things Tubi generally has more but Tubi is alot worse for commercials I saw the first Sleepaway Camp last month too
Absolutely there are lots of ads but I’m a big reader so I either read books or comics during the ads
I hate commercials the majority of them anyway I can only tolerate Pet ads almost every other ad gets muted
Tubi use to have a 9 second countdown before it gave you a pack of Ads now it gives you 1 second they caught on to that quick lol
Not sure about Norris. I've watched the columbian movie and delta force 2 recently and both of those were jewy and somewhat boring.
Delta Force 1 literally re-creates the "Trains to the left, trains to the right" part of the Great Holocaust Mythos, then splits the hostages into Jew and not-Jew, and has Norris specifically go rescue just the Jews. It was pretty on the nose and insufferable.
I’ve always been a big fan of his but I admit I haven’t seen those in a long time
The left thrives on 'problematic'. For a while, it was a buzz-term of the moment that liberals had just learned. One imperative of their entire platform requires something to be torn down so they can signal about it. You can't be a proud progressive without making progress and you can't make progress without a problem to solve. They dropped it on literally everything and when they felt it stopped making them sound smarter than they actually are (which is the other imperative, the one they get off on), the term had officially become diluted.
Don't revisit "Delta Force." It's completely awful and will make you angry.
Sleepaway Camp is one of my favorite movies! There's a kid wearing a Blue Oyster Cult shirt for one little "Easter egg" 😊
2 was a great disappointment, but oh well!
It DOES age well because... it's an honest effort. At least 2 of the deaths are pretty novel and the shock ending is really really shocking!
Skipping nushit is as easy for me as breathing
An ad skipping DVR might be good for Tubi, you start the movie and immediately pause it on the DVR to get snacks drinks go to the bathroom and then have some leeway to skip ads when watching.
It is also getting a ton of cartoon network and Nickelodeon stuff soon. Almost the entire Scooby Doo catalog is coming, but not here yet.
I check every day.
Any Scooby-Doo library without Mystery Incorporated is worthless.
They don't have Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island either.
And neither is on HBO Max, either.
I've over watched Mystery Inc, which seems to be permanently on Netflix, or my dvd collection. I want some Be Cool Scooby Doo because the second season can not be found
Tubi would be great if it didn't keep crashing on my Chromebook
