There's no way. Ancient Goths (circa 2000) were some of the palest folks out there. There is no amount of makeup that could make Africans look like that....
Africans != sub-saharans
All of North Africa, until the Muslim invasions around 800AD, were as White as the Romans (who outright owned it for hundreds of years).
Unless these "studies" call them Ethiopians or Nubians, they weren't Black.
When this gets to the jewbox, North African Arabs will magically become sub Saharan Africans.

They say North African. But you have people saying the North African Carthagians are black.
Precisely why I don’t trust these articles. Like if one sub Saharan African was documented to have been in medieval England that justifies modern day period pieces
The Phonecians were not White, they were from the middle east.
Fair, but they were destroyed by the Romans 500 years before the period we're talking about.
The Romans didn't ethnically replace the Phonecians, they just ruled them.
