It isn't even an insult. Woman Grandmaster is a distinct rank made up because chess is sexist or some similar bullshit. It is equivalent to the sexless Master. So the kid is rightly pointing out that she isn't a Grandmaster, shes a lower rank that only women can have which has a similar name.
That's the part many aren't getting. He wasn't being misogynistic or insulting at all but he was being technically correct, something tons of boys his age with a brain often do.
EDIT: I think that kid is a "bona-fied" 2300 master, eh? Not in a special category.
Having separate categories for girls is good though. Women's hockey & all that. If they're THAT good they can play the men if they want, there's no "Men's Category" it's open to all.
