I'm no fan of Soviet Russia, but Truman immediately went back on everything he promised as soon as he achieved clear weapons superiority.
Iran allowed inspections back in the 2000s only to have the firmware of their centerfuges sabotaged.
And lets not forget that the only reason that Iran is a totalitarian theocracy today is because the US overthrew their democracy to install their own tyrant.
This argument might hold water if you could find a country that has held itself to a minutely higher standard than the countey you're attacking.
Fuck this illegal strike on behalf of Israel that not only fails to advance American interests, but paints a target for retaliation on the American people.
I think this is a bit of a strawman and I don't think it does anyone any good to talk past each other like this. I don't see many people at all outright calling for war, and some support for what happened today shouldn't be construed as such.
What happened today is hardly a war, or at least, does not represent the sort of "Global War on Terror" style prolonged conflict that most people are getting at when they say that they don't want any new "wars." It could still devolve into that, but as of now has not.
I am not a fan of these kinds of strikes, but at the same time if it ends up being a short-lived conflict like the one last year, I can also understand those who would assert it's worth it. Accomplish more in 1 day then the War on Terror did in 20 years and leave it at that. If that's all it is, then I could understand the argument that it's not a big deal. I don't necessarily agree but it's important to steelman and not strawman.
The issue for me comes in when this is clearly to pursue the interests of a foreign country and its citizens and not America and its citizens. Using all this military budget spent cucking for Israel's interests on something productive, or lowering taxes, would be much more in the interests of America and its citizens.
I’m not saying that “a war happened today” lol. But what happened was 1000% representative of the “global war on terror” scam that we’ve been getting since the 90s.
I was promised NO new wars and AMERICA first. This is neither.
I'm not trying to say you're saying a war happened today. But you heavily implied the other user is calling for more wars by cheering on or at least being sympathetic to the strikes today. Which isn't apparent from what they posted. Are we at war in Venezuela right now?
Iran has never negotiated in good faith, never. Forty-seven years of it now. All they understood was getting their ass beat. They got their ass beat.
Has the States?

Iran didn't attack the USS Liberty
More wars! More wars! More wars!
