They always run right to that Abraham verse. I'm not sure he's wrong about the God giving pretty much all of that to Abraham's lineage.
They can get with God and go claim it then. There's a lot more after Genesis they had to go claim it with wars with themselves and God's help.
I'd argue the fact that they killed the messiah may have just led them to not keep much of that land. There's all sorts of punishments from God. I mean he barred Moses from that land. Moses! You know the savior of the Jews and one of the more highly talked about people as being righteous in that time period.

Thing is, there's a lot of the descendants of Abraham that aren't modern Jews. Abraham had eight children, including six by his third wife, whom historical Jews said was a descendant of Japeth, and therefore legally not Semites. But the Old Covenant is with Abraham and his descendants, not just his descendants through one of his thirteen grandsons.

And Paul very clearly states that the only descendants of Abraham are Christians. It's not theirs to take.
