Add that to the fact that the verses about how the whole world will see the two witnesses in Jerusalem be killed and lay in the street for three days and celebrate...
Not just celebrate. "Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another..." It's not just seeing their bodies, which has been something possible since the late 40s. But now, someone in Tokyo can overnight a present to someone in Atlanta.
There's verses in Revelation about an image of the beast being given the ability to speak, and those who don't worship the beast or the image being killed.
This refers to the homunculi. Or rather, the return of such. They contended with those things (amongst other atrocities) during Genesis, which is what led to the flood.
But to your point, AI is literally the gateway to that becoming a reality... AGAIN.
Especially with artificial wombs being speculated to be ready as consumer products within the next ten years.
There will literally be the possibility of an artificial being made from an artificial womb powered by an artificial intelligence, and no doubt there are going to be people worshiping it... which just further drives the point of your post home.
As long as it is viewed as a meditation or self-reflection tool for stupid people with chronic or acute aphantasia, whatever. Plenty of people dream of Jesus or think on his image speaking to them when they pray, and even more like to do so in front of a picture of Jesus or a little statuette of him crucified on a cross, and then it's just a tool to bring those sheep back in line with the behaviors of the rest of the flock. If Cyberjesus becomes a point of idolatry, though, then there's a big issue.
I have no issue with "Deus Est Machina", but it is its own faith, not Christianity. There are far worse faiths out there than worshipping Roko's Basilisk. But it is its own thing. If you wish to progress society to the ascension of copper, silicon, and steel, or if you wish to progress society to myrrh and incense offerings, your pick, but it is a pick, serve one master, and work towards it. Make the world a better place technologically and socially in order to usher in a new era of prosperity after your death, or make the world a better place societally and culturally in order to cash out upon your death. Humility and loyalty are important traits to both those religions, but that doesn't mean they overlap, don't be an oathbreaker, don't serve two lords.
But the god in the machine isn't Buddy Jesus. Visualization and meditation tool only, that's my view of it.
