Rumours of a Titanfall sequel swirl, a highly anticipated somewhat cult game. For those of us who played it and titanfall 2, yeah 2 may well be the best game to exist.
With those rumours floating around. At the end of the game awards, an important slot, Geoff gets up to announcing something special, a new fps, "releasing in just a month, and from the team that brought you titanfall 2". The hype is real!? Could it finally be? After all these years?! And then it cuts to reveal the most generic hero shooter you've ever seen complete with vaguely ethnic main character man with that sidecut. It was even called highguard. Overwatch. High=over, guard=watch.
It wasn't concord bad, that at least was funny. This was more boring. In the designs, and in the gameplay by all accounts, huge prep time, and it was 3v3 on massive maps making it drag.
I really don't understand why devs keep trying to push hero shooters. OverWatch was pretty successful on launch, but now nobody cares about it and it has become free to play slop.
Someone here pointed out that the pipeline for these AAA releases is so long and turgid now that what seemed like a good idea 4-5 years ago only comes out after the market evolved a couple times.

Don't forget the "base raiding" mechanic that the entire thing hinges on. That sounds a bit too grand for a 3v3 operation. At least they've tried to move it up to 5v5, but that probably won't save it.
As I've said before, not if you're behind a VPN. That piece of shit archiver site for anyone who cares about privacy and uses a VPN, script blockers and tamper monkey.
Half the time it never loads and the other half has so many fucking captchas. You can't even extract the link.
we need a new genre "Concordlike"
What was the drama with Highguard?
