Boomers were the largest and most wealthy generation the world has ever seen. They were the peak of wealth and power (as a generation) with the highest standard of living and then the largest voting demographic.
Boomers and the mainstream media caused the USA to withdraw from Vietnam, for example. In Australia, they elected Gough Whitlam and his Labor Party who removed Australia from the Vietnam War and brought about a raft of neo-socialist changes including free university, land rights for Aboriginal Australians, etc.
Boomers embraced the transhuman engineering experiments that were the Hormonal Birth Control Pill (known at the time as "The Sex Pill") and state-sponsored, easily available abortions. This lead directly to the "Sexual Revolution" AKA the swinging sixties.
FTM transgenderisim has been around for hundreds of years. A woman puts on mens' clothing and performs the duties to be accepted as a man. If she is any good at it then everyone will grant her the social role of manhood. It was never popular, because it was judged by results, and accountability is womens' kryptonite.
MTF transgender procedures started really gaining traction in 1965 building on the major pioneering work done by Johns Hopkins university. Academics and doctors of the day were attempting to redefine the human condition using medicine and cheap artificial hormones.
I don't know if they were the most wealthy. The silent generation got to enjoy the 60s while the boomers were still being born. The silent generation is also the one to blame for the sexual revolution and hippie communism at that time.
To be sure the boomers had it better than later generations and generally squandered that wealth. Meanwhile they were stuck in the TV propaganda and trusted the government way too much and failed to return to the pre-war ways of living that worked much better, instead choosing technological convenience and the welfare state. Later generations had their faults too of course, like millennials being known as snowflakes. I think millennials and gen Z are more to blame for transgenderism, which only became mainstream last decade - before that it was a mental illness and no public figures argued that a man could become a woman or vice versa.
Every age group has their faults and they're pretty much determined by the environment they grew up in the consequences of that. I don't think it's very productive to assign blame to whole age groups, not only because it's an over-generalization but also because it's the 1% most powerful in each of those age groups that cause 80% of the problems, and that's where the problems need fixing. I think we should criticize those people x10 more than the common people.
The Boomers systematically removed every pillar that held up civil society to further indulge in gynocentrisim.
They turned their back on church, they destroyed marriage, they rewrote the laws and stacked the courts to make sure that No Fault Divorce (their invention) always favored women.
I think GenX are just about to become the largest Cohort, but only for about ten years.
EDIT.
I've just done some online research. As of the most recent US Presidential election, the Baby Boomers were still the largest Cohort at about 28% of the vote. They are aging out rapidly, with many being to frail to vote.
The next elections (midterms) will probably be the first election in which they are not the largest cohort, with GenX making up about 20-25% of the vote. So this is very current, it is happening pretty much as we speak.
The oldest boomers were 19 in 1965. That is Silent Generation scumbaggery. (The generation that everyone forgets about between the GI generation and Boomers. They brought you dirty hippies, no fault divorce, and almost all of the federal welfare programs except social security.)
Boomers were the ones born 9 months after troops demobilized and came back from WWII, February 1946 and later at the earliest, though the bulk of the troops hadn't returned until 1947.
People blaming Boomers for Silent Generation ills is a minor peeve of mine. Plenty of stuff the boomers did wrong without blaming for stuff they didn't do.

And here we are.

They are still the largest cohort in elections!
Not true, boomers are not the largest cohort anymore, it's Millenials and Gen X'ers.
