Given most Americans are white it's unavoidable that people from small groups have to marry them or remain unmarried. All I get from this chart is that a person's spouse is most likely to have the same ethnicity, even if their ethnicity is vastly outnumbered (except Laotian females because apparently the males don't exist). In other words ethnicities form cliques and marry within those cliques. America is not a "melting pot" of ethnicities, it's a layer cake of ethnicities.
Even within the "white" race, people often stick with people from similar cultural backgrounds. Only as generations get further away from the immigrant ancestors does that change.

Basically, I'd argue the only melting pot should be everyone agrees to live by western standards which controlled immigration managed to do.
No? They chose to come to a White country, that's the opposite of "unavoidable".
You know what I meant. Leaving the country would be a third option obviously.
