TLDW: Colin Noir points out that carrying a gun at a protest is constitutionally protected, however Pretti was being very dumb attempting to physically intervene with officers.
My Take [I AM NOT A LAWYER AND THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE]:
Pretti was a cunt and part of a larger machine built to agitate and annoy officers, as well as impede officers by warning perps of their presence using noise makers. Pretti was not personally using noise makers even though he was yelling, but he was filming for two women who were.
the environment leading up to the situation was already tense, with multiple people on social media bragging about shooting ice agents.
the initial scuffle started because the Ice agents started pushing back the agitators, likely to get them clear of their car. however, it appears the ice agents caved to the agitation as they kept pushing after the agitators were clear.
Pretti physically intervened. while he did put his hands up, he still inserted himself between the officers and the agitators. This is grounds to detain him. Pretti was being stupid.
While detaining him, one ice officer yelled "gun" and within seconds the first shot went off. "Gun" was yelled even though both of Pretti's hands were secure. he did not reach for his waistband until after the first shot went off. practically speaking, Pretti's gun was removed at the same time he was shot, the agent firing the shot could not reasonably know that the gun was no longer in play. The ICE officer who fired the first shot did not draw his gun until after another officer yelled "gun".
after the first shots were fired the rest of the agents backed off and fired more shots into Pretti. this seems to be more of a result of hearing the shots being fired, rather than the officers observing any aggressive behavior from Pretti.
Conclusion: Pretti was being stupid and was rightfully being arrested, but the officers let their emotions and fear get the better of them and wrongfully shot Pretti. In my opinion, the officers should not be protected and they deserve jail for negligent homicide. it was not an execution like the left is claiming, the whole thing was a series of poor judgment by all parties involved that lead to an unnecessary shooting and unnecessary death. additionally, the politicians and social media influencers calling for violent action against ice need to be held accountable.
Colin Noir points out that carrying a gun at a protest is constitutionally protected, however Pretti was being very dumb attempting to physically intervene with officers.
What protest? There is a very narrow legal definition of protest. Following ICE around and attempting to impede federal arrests is not protesting. They arrested people for being outdoors 5 years ago and were pretending rule of law exists?

Completely false. The retard cleared the OIC for being shot long before they attempted detain him. Again, this libtard hand wringing about “bad shoots” is why republicans are spineless cowards who will lose every time because they’re the only one playing by their own imaginary rules. He was armed and attempted to physically intervene with a lawful process, breaking a safeguard, leftist gestapo kill long before that point. Their biggest mistake was not drawing earlier and telling them all to bite the curb instead of engaging them physically.
Minnesota isn't a Constitutional Carry state and requires a permit to carry, regardless if it's open or concealed. Every CCW instructor, without fail, will tell you to be much, much more humble when carrying a gun, because you WILL be seen as the aggressor in a confrontation. Should you be forced to defend your actions in court, the prosecution WILL argue that you went in knowing you had a backup plan if things went south.
The SIG P320 AXG Combat Pretti carried was a brand-new Gucci gun: superfluous threaded barrel, Chinese-made SIG-branded ROMEO2 red dot sight, and mint-condition magazines loaded with SIG-branded hollow points. Pretti went and bought this piece of shit, despite being a nightmare to conceal and the maelstrom of controversy surrounding the P320, over something practical like a Glock 19. It's the type of pistol a gun store, wanting to get rid of its excess inventory, would sell to an ignorant noguns newfag looking for something "tactical" or "military grade".
You can only come to two conclusions: Either Pretti fell asleep during his CCW licensing class, or he bought a gun and carried it knowing he would start shit with ICE.

How? he wasn't the one physically blocking officers until he intervened trying to prevent one of the women being arrested. he had both his hands up at the time one of them holding a phone. the officers didn't mistake the phone for a gun because they would have shot him then and there if that was the case.
technically the cunts he was filming were the ones impeding, he was watching and filming. Even then, unfortunately, impeding does not warrant deadly force in and of itself, otherwise every rioter would have been blasted by now.
Being armed is irrelevant if you are not brandishing, and he was not brandishing.
He also has a history of impeding officers and assaulting them, resulting in his ribs being broken just a week prior as the officers he assaulted defended themselves from his criminal violence.
Even if you're a criminal carrying a gun illegally, you're better off just letting the cop take the gun.
Hell, if you're 100% innocent, and it's an illegal arrest and detention, you're still better off letting the cop take the gun from you, rather than fighting.
Survive the stop, fight it in court. You can't win a case you're too dead to attend.

Plus it's against Minnesota state law to even be armed at a protest, much less concealed carry with no ID and no permit.

Was he there directly trying to impede a federal operation while armed, yes or no

Stop making me defend a leftist cunt.
