I vaguely remember it. The year before Dark City had come out. I remember Dark City better, it had Jennifer Connolly in it. The late 90s had some existential fake world stuff in the water
Matrix is basically a worse copy of Dark City. They even used sets of Dark City.
Dark City had a better story. Matrix had better action.
But Dark City was science fiction with a smattering of action and and Matrix was an action movie with a smattering of sci fi, so that's understandable.
In my personal opinion Dark City is by far the superior movie. Although only if you watch the Director's Cut. The Theatrical Cut basically ruins the movie.

American Beauty and Fight Club showed that pre-9/11 Americans had it so good we were literally going crazy from all the comfort and stability.
Thankfully our benevolent masters in ZOG fixed that for us and we'll never have to go back to it.
That is true. Reminds me to get some 90s sci fi anthologies at the book store
