BUT ALSO, it's just a kid's movie, stop taking it so seriously lol, why do you care so much about it?
I fucking hate when they reply with this snarky bullshit. Superhero movies ARE important - they’re modern day American mythology, each superhero is our society’s modern iteration of gods, just as every previous great civilisation has had. We may not literally worship them the way previous cultures did, but the mythology serves up the same sort of morality through storytelling.
“With great power comes great responsibility”
"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."
“I am a Jedi, like my father before me…”
These catchphrases and memes etc are so much more than “just stupid kids movies”. They were a reinforcement of our values (eg truth, justice and the American way), and they were VERY important to little boys like me.
All little boys like my son have to look forward to these days is vacuous feminism, narcissistic millennial writing and black/brown worship. Fuck that, as far my son is aware there are 3 Star Wars movies only, everything else is gay retarded fan fiction
As a life long comic book reader and collector I can say the worst thing for comics was nerdiness being trendy thanks to big bang theory and the obsession with getting girls in comics. Couldn’t just let the hobby attract people who enjoy it.
The biggest tell was when Luke Skywalker referred to his own lightsaber as a “laser sword”. That’s not something a Star Wars fan would ever write. In fact, it’s something a Star Wars hater would write.
And the critics said if you didn’t like it it was because you were too dumb to get it
It's a stunningly brilliant commentary on the nature of Good & Evil, war, poverty, classism, and responsibility with power...
