it is an unapologetically K-pop fantasy movie, where K-pop diva magical girls use the power of K-pop to fight K-pop demons to save the world of K-pop.
the whole movie is an indulgent K-pop romp, so if you're into that sort of thing you'll have a blast. frankly, I admired the movie's dedication to the bit, there wasn't a single point where the over the top nature of the movie was acknowledged by the characters, they all play it straight.
As someone outside of the K-pop fandom, it was entertaining enough and the animation, while obnoxious, was very impressive on a technical level. some of the dialogue gets very on the nose at times, with one of the songs beating you over the head with one of the plot points. I would not have gone out of my way to watch it on my own, but I enjoyed it well enough to watch with company.
I'd recommend it. I'm trying to think of how you could squint and see anything subversive, but the worst that comes to mind is the comic relief manager character being a man. The three female leads are likeable and have flaws, the songs are really good, the animation is good outside my personal dislike of anime-style reaction frames and the story is about building a magic wall to keep the demons out.
Slightly related question just because I've heard about K-Pop Demon Hunters only from kids. Any of you actually seen it? I assume it's total faggotry?
watched it with my gf.

It's a shitty musical anime thing from Netflix. Kids know it because it was prominently featured in Fortnite's season ending event.
You've definitely heard one of the songs from it playing in a store, they are Mariah Carey tier overplayed.

It's entertaining with catchy music. The movie that kinda checks all the boxes in a board-approved way.
Good enough like old MCU movies when they started
Watched it with friends and family because I thought it'd be a meme to watch it.
