They're basically all ridiculous, but the others are either "popular with the kids" (Fortnite, Nerf, Spongebob) and/or are at least kind of combat related. Like there are already zombie decks (Walking Dead), dinosaur decks (Godzilla), and Stranger Things features DnD, which Magic likely borrowed inspiration from in the first place. You could imagine summoning Spider-man, Cloud, or a Ninja Turtle from some alternate dimension and having them help you win a fight. I'm not saying these are good, by any means, just that I could kind of get the logic.

The "young, modern audience" that they're looking for has probably never even heard of them, and the old timers (if Hasbro even wants them) are not going to be sucked into a new, expensive hobby because you can get a Knights of Ni card or whatever. Edit: It was less interesting. They're just reprints of existing cards with new names. For example they did Birds of Paradise as both a European and an African Swallow. They stuck entirely to Holy Grail, so it's more thematically aligned than most the tie-in shit. But MTG was on life support and then finished themselves off with fucking black Aragorn.
