Games being remade this year
Every FPS game from Japanese companies
I watched the entire Halo remake trailer just to see what they did with Cortana and they didn't show her. Suspicious. I suspect it will be Cor-It'sMAAM-a.
She had the top surgery already, all that left is to add the bulge.
A remake of a game that's already been remade and still plays fine and is not a ton different from modern games. Peak ridiculousness money grab.
They need to claim the graphics are better so they can release badly for the Switch 2.
Something I'm interested in on just aesthetics alone currently is Menace, has the guy that did the Astartes series involved so hoping it be good tactical RPG with the dark atmosphere.
I can speak to that.
The Menace Demo has been out for a while and it is tip top in my opinion. The game is the best XCom-like I've played in years, there is a ton of customization options and even the demo is being iterated on and updated frequently.
You have me at best Xcom-like!
Their mission system in particular I think is brilliant. You get mini campaigns with branching paths and different rewards based on your choices. Even just the little bit they've let us play so far has been excellent.
That looks really nice. I will add it to the next list.
I don't see much for me so I'm glad I already have all the games I need.
I do want to give credit to the Hollow Knight dev for keeping their game $20 though. Give the finger to the ones pushing these games to $70+ and even more so making them worse than before.
Keeping it 20$, while making it quadruple the size of the prior game that was 15$.
It cannot be slated how much they dabbed on the entire industry with that game. Including revealing how fucking bad most gamers are that they had to whine endlessly about its difficulty as if it was Super Meat Boy or something.
It wasn't a masterpiece of course, I can list quite a few flaws, but in terms of entire package it basically made near the entire industry, devs and players, look pathetic in some way.
Yeah, my backlog is large, but I still like seeing what is there.
I've gots tons of a backlog too, but I've also been going back and replaying games. Things that have been sitting stale for years so I've forgotten enough that it's almost new.
I have a list of games I play every year and a few that I play when the mood hits. Right now I'm doing tony hawk 1-3 and Power Wash Simulator v
I really shouldn't touch Power Wash Simulator. I never have but that type of mindless addiction game would totally get me right now. I took off this week to supposedly do some projects and spent the time so far mindlessly walking back and forth with some virtual boxes in Death Stranding. I don't even know why. I think I just needed the mental break badly.
It's a very calming game, and you feel accomplished.
Is there a chennel people go to that covers indie games like AlphaBetaGamer? Stopped watching him when he went full progshit in that one disney style game, someone predicted the story beats and he used the usual progshit being exposed comments "Why do you say that huh?! How do you know?!" His shit flipping in part two had all the other remarks when they get exposed
I don't know. That is disappointing.
Disgaea died when it went to 3D, and they just keep pretending like people care about them anymore. They went out with a whimper on 5 (an okay game but far below 1/2/4) and almost nobody can even recall a detail about 6 despite 7 long since being out.
This game was confirmation that Zelda is dead and we likely aren't ever going back. Its going to be BotW slop forever, whether via direct sequels/references like this or using it as the foundation for all future games.
Literally ruined by their own success.
That was my take away from Echoes of Wisdom. Any "real" Zelda game that actually follows the classic formula from now on is going to be a spin off. I wish they went the Majora's Mask route with their asset flip for the BotW follow up.
A classic formula Zelda game made with BotW assets would have been sweet. Instead, the open world slop was the part they decided to keep, of course.
Not just keep but double down with adding a completely unfitting crafting system that not only massively fucks up the theme by taking it from fantasy to some sort of sci-fi-punk I can't think of the name for it, but requires so many retcons that it basically isn't even a sequel to its own game anymore. Which also takes away literally any gameplay that isn't "spam your best creation." At least BotW only let you do that with health replenishers and you still had the classic Zelda action loop for combat.
I've heard Echoes is quite good, but it seems to suffer from a bit of similar. Where you just find the handful of summons that you like and never need to really change. Which is fine enough for a pure spinoff, but it just increases the time since we had a "real" Zelda game to enjoy. The remake of Link's Awakening is supposed fine, but its a 60 fucking dollar remake.
The biggest shame is that Hyrule Warriors was a great game, that did everything it was supposed to in terms of celebrating the franchise and giving you endless content to enjoy. But now Nintendo has forced KT to take two nearly lore-less games and full focus on them with the followups, where they needed to make up most of the roster for the current one almost from scratch. Meaning even that subseries is being wasted.
