David seems to be under the impression that the markets haven’t already been distorted by globalization to the point where we can’t have homogenous communities that are self-sufficient.
These minimum wage jobs aren’t something to aspire to, but they serve a purpose and should at least be treated as a necessary part of a successful, capitalistic society rather than something to scorn.
Malicious actors like Zohran will never fix this problem, because their entire platform is based around importing third-world filth that suppress wages and using the taxpayer money to fix a problem that was caused by globalization.
You made my point. While it’s true that those types of jobs traditionally aren’t supposed to be jobs to make a living off of but markets have been distorted. They will not do what it actually takes like going after Fed or ending fractional reserve banking and that’s just the start. Importing millions upon millions definitely doesn’t help
If you aren’t making what you need to make you are going to have to either look for a new job or get something in the side. It sucks but if I am not making enough then it’s ultimately on me to do something. Some jobs simply aren’t designed to support my current life. When I washed dishes at a restaurant as a teenager I wasn’t expecting that salary to sustain me into adulthood
That's not what I was getting at. A full-time job should be able to enable you to get by without having to count every single penny you spend. If it doesn't it's either because your employer pays you a slave wage or what is usually the case the cost of living is far too high for which the government is to be blamed.
Work has to be done and it should be properly rewarded no matter what work it is. A cashier does a vital job for society. So does the guy who cleans the street. And people who work in the food industry. They need to be paid a living wage. Not everyone can work in high-paying IT jobs developing the next useless mobile app.
That's a fair point... But a lot of it is going to depend on if it's worth it.
Like... It makes sense for a full-time position to include more responsibility than cashier/drink making.
Or it's worth it if you have a store with HIGH traffic and the full-time cashier / barista is just excellent at their job keeping things flowing maximizing our profits and customer satisfaction.
I saw some dude with a simple fresh lemonade stand says he pays his guys 15-20 an hour just cuz they can knock out 3 drinks a minute.. profiting $12 a minute instead of someone slower profiting $4 a minute.
But honestly, these corporate stores probably aren't doing any of that.
While capitalism is the most effecient way of exchanging resources, capitalism itself isn't something I'm loyal to, it's just an economic system. Guy sounds like ben Shapiro judeo-cons that treat capitalism like some kind of religion, anything that deviates from muh complete free market is freedom hating, anti-American, communism. oh your job doesn't pay enough, cheap foreign labors pricing you out of the market? That's too bad, you should have been smarter and went to college, go be poor somewhere else! No sympathy for people who just want to make an honest living with dignity.
It is not because it eventually runs out of money. And when the moneys gone, they then start cannibalizing their resources/advantages. That’s when cohesion dies.
Malicious actors like Zohran will never fix this problem
Completely correct, but sadly I see a rise in this sort of thing. I thought it was fading from the left, but the "right" has shit the bed so bigly that it's giving an in for the more extremist economic elements of the left to reassert their power. Being a populist is a massive advantage, when pricks like David are saying you shouldn't be able to live.
A lot of misguided people are going to take the platitudes of the communists over the scorn of the "capitalists." (Who are also communists.)

How is a full-time job not a job that you are supposed to make a living off of?

Exactly. Socialism is fine in a high trust, closed system, white society. Maybe even better in that situation.
