That's not what I was getting at. A full-time job should be able to enable you to get by without having to count every single penny you spend. If it doesn't it's either because your employer pays you a slave wage or what is usually the case the cost of living is far too high for which the government is to be blamed.
Work has to be done and it should be properly rewarded no matter what work it is. A cashier does a vital job for society. So does the guy who cleans the street. And people who work in the food industry. They need to be paid a living wage. Not everyone can work in high-paying IT jobs developing the next useless mobile app.
Hey, I’m a firm believer that everyone’s job is important. I agree the cost of living is too high but unfortunately don’t think most people are willing to do what it takes to do something about it along with inflation, fiat currency, etc. I completely agree you should be able to work a full time job and not have to work others. Granted some jobs are designed to be entry level but ideally working hard at your job should give you raises and promotion opportunities. No arguments from me about cost of living. My rent keeps going up and up
Ok so does that mean my highly skilled job that took me years to master is worth the same as a plug and play cashier job?
So you want to only be able to get by without having to count every penny after doing all that? You might wanna read my post again.
Why should someone who puts in minimal effort be rewarded the same as someone who has actually worked to better themselves?
Read my post again.
But calling working a full-time job minimal effort is quite arrogant. Let's use garbage men as an example. It's not a highly skilled job. It's pretty straight forward. But it is one of the most important jobs in modern society. You can't do without them.
And they get paid a shit ton because their job is hard, dangerous, and necessary.
Guess what. A cashier is a necessary job too. Stocking shelves is necessary too. Cleaning the streets is necessary. Cleaning offices is necessary. Cooking food is necessary. And so many more jobs that are paid terribly are necessary.
I'm getting the impression that you're probably the type of person who would tell his kids to go fuck themselves instead of financially supporting them. And the person who would rather other people are being paid less instead of yourself being paid more.
But anyway you should work on your reading comprehension. At no point in time did I write that every full-time job should be paid a salary high enough to live in luxury.
