The Indian caste system is obviously overboard, but people should not be disconnected from the circumstances of their birth. If you have a head start in life because your parents were not huge pieces of shit, then that’s a good thing for society. We want to incentivize people creating soft landings for their children. Many opportunities are outcomes. If you flatten opportunities, you sabotage parental investment.
