At the time, the left gave themselves complete carte blanche. Threats, arson, theft, murder, rape, cannibalism, even necrophilia. They would apply the law only to non leftists and never to themselves. This is the Bolshevik principle known as tyranny by anarchy.
Notably, this behavior failed in the case of the left's previous target.

Because Mussolini made it so that the left weren't getting trials. He made them kill on suspicion, free and legal targets. That's why they went after a weaker target in Spain.
I mean, it didnt really work in Spain either. Sure, they ran buck-ass wild for a while, but then eventually Franco said "You know, I could just kill the bastards. And I am a better general than them anyway." and they lost there too (just with more chaos and war before Italy).
Perceived weaker target I'll concede, but at the same time they certainly got a hell of a foothold until they were defeated by a hero.
The point remains the same. Turns out the left hasn't changed one bit in a century.

Trump and red state governors need to issue a preemptive pardon making it effectively legal to hunt down these fuckers. It's the only way to do this while staying within the Constitutional legal framework. But they won't.
