Have you been to Mexico? There is a massive Aztec nationalist movement. The name mexico literally comes from the mexica tribe which was the biggest of the Aztec confederation. The symbol of the eagle on the snake is Aztec.
In current day there is mass cultural attack on Europeans there, open hatred of whites, and decolonizing movements more massive than those in Canada or Australia with way more browns. The size of Amerindian populations are massive with nearly 1 million Nahuatl native speakers who learn Spanish as their second language. And that's not in addition to all the other Indian groups like the ones in Chiapas which are basically in open economic revolt against the Mexican government.
When I was there they basically threatened me for using a credit card for a dinner because it "stole their money" and they basically forced me to use cash.
you do realize that credit card company charges businesses % of their transactions? they literally DO lose money when you use your CC (either a flat fee or a % of the transaction)
in some Based countries (namely Poland) some businesses offer a discount for those who pay with cash, like a few months ago i went to a pizzaria that had a 10% discount to cash-payers
Ya I know that, bro. But it was like a hostage situation where they said they would take a card then at the end of the meal some shady looking guys stood at our table and told us we would "have less problems" or something like that paying cash and that we were trying to "steal from the locals". The iberian white Mexican I was eating with got kinda shook and said we need to empty our pockets so we could leave. This was at a supposedly safe restaurant.
There is also Marxist revolutionary graffiti and slogans everywhere and lots of shit about decolonizing. San Cristobal de las casas if you wanna look it up.
While this is true, it’s Mexico. People carrying around cash are targets for robbery. You can cancel a credit card within minutes. You will not get your cash back.
Only sort of. There’s some Aztec in there, but I believe there’s also significant admixture from the Spaniards, and from the other tribes in the region, many of whom sided with the Spanish against the Aztecs.
I didn’t know that. Is it a situation like the remnants of the various Native American tribes in the US? It sounds more serious, since I don’t think the Cree or Iroquois or whoever are speaking their dialects more than English.
Although I will say that “about a million” probably doesn’t bear out covok’s assertion that “the modern Mexican” (population ~130 million) is effectively an Aztec.
Yeah, gets hard to argue with Cortez and his methods because I don't hear this sort of crap coming from the Aztec.

i totally get that, i wouldn't walk around with a pile of cash in a shithole like Mexico either
hell, i wouldn't even BE in mexico to begin with...
Gas stations in America will do this, giving a cheaper price if you actually pay with cash.
It's very common.
"Cash is King" is the quote, and everyone i know prefers cash
its physical, its without surviallance its basically what everyone likes
the only downside is getting torn or dirty bills, but unless you're trying to exchange Euros to another currency that's not much of an issue...
Modern Mexicans are Aztecs.

Yes and no. About a million aztec nahuatl native speakers that primarily speak it before Spanish.
