Your valueless item that only has value because of perceived rarity on a digital good is a bit ridiculous. I mean, if you like that kind of thing, fine, enjoy. It's monetary value probably wasn't what you were looking for, it was the rarity of it, that only a half dozen people playing might have that item. That I can understand.
It's like when people in WoW went nuts for those red face scarves the defias used to drop like 2 decades ago or more. Just a common white item. Nothing fancy. But now that you can't get it, suddenly it's expensive and rare.
