Any company big enough to be publicly traded is probably like that in the IT departments. I've basically been connected but adjacent to the industry for 25 years, so watching it from the sidelines. I worked for a corporation for a long time, and I'm a contractor/consultant now so I see and hear a lot across the board.
It started with a few actually competent ones getting in, so you have a team of 17 white guys and 3 Indians. No one thought much of it at that time. Grew by attrition, but once they get into hiring positions they pretty much only hire Indians and in the last five years it's gotten to the point where there are only Indians left.
They don't get checked on it, because as we know "diversity" means less white men. HR is all the white liberal women. They would never call out a brown, ever. You want to see corporate departments that are actually non-diverse by definition. Go look at a meeting of an IT team. You will see a room full of Indian men.
The muzzies from the -stan countries aren't quite as bad at nepotism, typically are more competent, and much fewer in number, but they have their niche fields they dominate too.
Indians probably have the second highest ingroup bias in the world but what makes it bad is that they have no breaks on it. It is so normal for them that they don't even consider that they need to pretend it is not the case. They can just cut you off and say they prefer talking to an Indian colleague despite not even speaking the same language and having to speak in broken English.
I've worked with guys from a lot of countries and I've never experienced anything close to the aggressive nepotism of Indians. I assume that there was/is a similar nepotism with Jews in Hollywood but I can't say I have had any contact with that world.
Also HR is completely useless, I complained once about a manipulative, racist muslim and despite having the chat saved I was the one that got in trouble. HR will 100% side with the non-white guy. Even if you are a white woman, HR will defend the "minority".
