"General Strikes" are an absolutely ancient tactic by Communists to spread general criminal violence and terrorism across a country. There's never been a quiet boycotting of work in a General Strike. The purpose of the General Strike is to attack the government and infrastructure with the support of Leftists within government to run cover for the violent Communists.
I shouldn't have to explain the absolute base level Leninism 101 tactics of using "General Strikes" to disable government enforcement mechanisms, seize communicant and transportation hubs, and then directly attack the political establishment to force immediate and violent regime change. Lenin is literally infamous for explaining that not even 100 men could seize a city of 10,000 by taking the "train depots, telegraph wires, and government center". It's a little more broad now that it's not 1913, but the strategy is exactly the same, even to the point that the Communists seized transportation infrastructure.

Honestly, BLM was less violent than the Italian Communists. BLM is really just a quieter offshoot of groups like the BLA.
