Not sure where you've been but for many years it was how diversity is our strength and how they enrich culture.
If you search a bit on google you will have a ton of articles about how diversity enriches your workplace, how it enriches your culture, your city etc.
If you are to ask any leftist boomer it will tell you how great it is to see all those different cultures that they don't interact with. Including my old team lead that lived in a 100% white area and had to go to the office once in 2 years to change his laptop and then started praising how great and diverse the offices were although it was mostly indians and he spoke to none of them.
The main argument for immigration is that the countries will collapse without it because native Europeans aren't having enough children.
Except that makes no sense, how does having more burdens on society help? How is the ones that work and send money home benefit local economy? GDP going up is a horrible metric, increasing the number of state employees increases GDP while producing nothing and it needs to be GDP per person while also taking in to account immigrants that are not citizens.
At the end of the day, rich people get richer while poor people remain poorer because immigrants cause stagnation and corpos and investment funds are benefiting.
My other argument is, the birthrate is down but immigration is millions upon millions way more then any birthrate adjustment.
At the end of the day it should be up to the people (that have always been against mass immigration) to choose slow stagnation or better pensions / social security but with:
increase waiting times for medical assistance
more violence and division
drastically cultural change to the point your country is not your country
house prices are completely unaffordable for younger generation
If the answer is yes then it needs to set some goals/metrics that need to be achived. If you are to sell the very cultural identity of the country and curse the future generations of being without one then at least make it profitable, how much will the system profit from it, how much money does it take?
Turns out for UK it was 0.5% increase - that I assume is actual negative if you take in to account how much they steal. Was 0.5% economic increase worth not having a country to call your own and a culture that is being hated by the people brought in, where their flag is seen as a threat?
I can blame the people to some regard but the truth is the game was stacked against them. They voted conservative in the hopes to manage immigration only to be screwed again and again.
But for the ones that agree to mass immigration they are the most vile people, selling what others have built while damning the future generations of your own people, betrayers and profiteers the lot of them.
There's no enrichment argument.
The main argument for immigration is that the countries will collapse without it because native Europeans aren't having enough children.
The second argument is compassion for the less privileged.

The enrichment angle was always an excuse more than a proper argument as far as I ever saw it. An insignificant factor that made no difference.
It was the economic side that made anyone take the position seriously, at least in my experience. The asylum angle also made some waves.

The idea is that they pay the pensions for the old Europeans.
That's fair, but you don't need to argue about it. I'm not debating against you.
