Somewhere in the $100k - $1 million fee range we'll augmenting rather than replacing.
We should be poaching the best and brightest and rejecting the street shitters. I don't get why it's so hard for people, left or right, to understand that some particular immigrants are good for us while others are bad.
von Braun would have arrived under the O-1 genius visa. There's no cap on that. Regardless, are we really poaching top scientists or is China poaching them back?

lol what? Somebody else, an American, was going to do that job if we didn't get him. It's not like we weren't going to have a rocket program. Just not as well.
The point of H1B is to import people when we don't have Americans that can do the job. They can't be taking somebody's job if there's nobody here that can do it.
The program isn't run that way, instead we're getting Indians replacing Americans, but that's the purpose of it. Putting a high fee on it means businesses won't be saving money replacing Americans and only use the program for people who are adding to the country not replacing - great idea.
I'm saying, raising the price of H-1Bs is good, but it's still just legalized bribery. The argument here is that the government wasn't getting enough of a cut when it came to selling out Americans.
If we're going to import foreigners to compete with Americans, I don't care what the cost is, if it's our masters in government pocketing that payment. It's all the same end of empire nonsense. Pay me if you're going to bring in people to compete with me. Or just, you know, don't do that shit.
If there's a $1 million fee to get a foreigner working here, businesses will only bring in workers that provide more value than that. It's not bribery at all, it's a merit test.
Why should you get paid for doing nothing and not being qualified or skilled to do the work? If you can do the job they can't (on paper) bring the foreigner in. Unless you don't even apply for the job.
