Really makes one think, that given the treatment that Stephen Colbert was given recently simply to axe his show to stop the financial bleeding, that Kimmel's suspension here and likely dismissal is more about wanting to leave the dying & albatross Late Night business rather than Kimmel getting fired for relatively innocuous monologue comments and a rightward Overton window pendulum swing.
Basically he's been fired for cause, so ABC doesn't have to pay out his contract.
But he'll contest it and maybe win in court/arbitration because he'll say it was an innocent mistake, so the lawyers get together and decide how much he gets and what discount ABC gets from his golden parachute.
